My take on the champagne socialism vs degrowth debate is that it's impossible to know exactly what quality of life we should expect after massively decarbonizing our economy and ensuring an equitable worldwide distribution of wealth and demanding one end of the spectrum or the other at this point is pretty silly

Every family gets one house no more no less, free transit in cities where private car ownership is banned, and meat is either not produced due to the massive energy/land/labor costs or made in big ol' synthmeat factories. Degrowth in my mind means putting a cap on opulence, modernizing production to increase efficiency, and ensuring all economic growth is also sustainable and used to uplift every human. Plus all 3rd world babies are thrown into incinerators, per Amber's contention.
