After rebirthing everyone I holed up in the Hub training and crafting. By the time I left I had 4 heavy infantry (full specialist samurai armor + homemade skeleton-III weapons) and 3 light infantry (drifters leathers + rattan hat + sandals, specialist oldbow) with skills/stats 40+. They went through fogmen like a chainsaw through butter.

I mean, if you're a successful actress and you go out of the house in a skirt and without underwear, knowing that paparazzi are just waiting for opportunities like this and that it has happened many times before, then there's really nobody you can blame for it but yourself.

It's dependent on game start. Some of them, like The Slaves, will of course start out in specific locations. If it says random then it is, of course, random.

what is a good recruitment mod?

I'm slightly disappointed by the mod scene in this game though. It's been around forever, and i was expecting something closer to a M&B or Starsector (if you are familiar). Starsector may be a better comparison since it's much less popular than this game as opposed to M&B.

but yeah, I was hoping for / expecting big overhauls or world conversion stuff but there aren't any :(

also. Update on my lonely robit. I finally finished my big northern excursion. I hit every ancient structure I could, I think I only skipped one. Found an armor king. He was cool, neat lore tidbits there. very annoying to get to.

Couldn't get to one structure actually cause I could only run through Rebirth, which I learned did not like me.

Got to World's End. Was a lot smaller than I was hoping, not a lot to do other than the Robotic shop. I bought a new left arm since the one I bought in the beginning was pretty lovely. this one has 260 health as opposed to 100!

I have like 120k monies, 6 engineering research, 30 ancient books, 4 ai cores. This is probably enough to start a base right?

only problem is I'm all by my lonesome, and I kind of don't want to bother managing non-robots eating and stuff. Skeletons are so much easier.

Paradise Falls if you want people to not be able to say no. Prisoner Recruitment if you don't mind playing a little dialogue-driven minigame to eventually get the same thing out of it. Do not use both at once, they're mutually incompatible.

I dunno how that's a bad thing, because I don't know that any Nexus-grade modding type could come up with a better or more compelling world to play in than the game already gives us.

yeah, maybe that was the wrong descriptor. I guess what I meant was like systems overhauls, or conversion. I think you could probably reasonably create new minor factions and stuff without messing the lore up much.

Maybe there are some blindspots in my nexus searching though, I don't remember seeing paradise falls at all when I was looking.

oh also, I started a "no bodies" game. I started in uhh waystation ruins. I stumbled around north cause that's the part of the map i'm familiar with, in the great desert. Didn't find a city, but did find an outpost called Waystation. I guess it's new waystation.

anyway, wondered around there. managed to buy some food with the industrial scraps i found at the ruins. Food is really annoying. After that, and deciding to head south into the unknown (for me) as opposed to the desert, I wondered around for quite a while having some close encounters with some beak things, robot slaves, scary spiders and some scavengers that were holed up in an ancient ruin. they didn't like it when I came in.

managed not to die and finally found a town, uhh something lagoon. pretty cool area, love all the ships and stuff stranded on land. I was half expecting to see those kind of set pieces up in the desolate north. regardless it really set a very cool tone. I wonder if this was an ancient ocean or if they were all washed inland due to climate change (which seems to be a common mention in the texts ingame) or some kind of calamity at sea.

anyway I'm in this town now, dunno where to go from here though. Only have 5,000 monies so not sure how much explorin' food i can buy.

Oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, the Workshop does that kind of thing, but you really have to look there specifically. For some reason, the Nexus offers just a really small and limited sub-set of all the mods available.

This game really isn't as easy to mod as something like Skyrim, though, so in all fairness, what you find will always be comparatively more limited. Even though there is a construction set, what it allows you change is just pretty limited on the whole.

One thing about modding is that the game constantly was reworked through the years, which kills a lot of mods.

Now that Kenshi is out, we are seeing a lot more overhauls, modding and mesh tools, as well as additional storyline builds.

of course i've been stealing all the dudes poo poo. which i guess kind of makes it last even longer since they have less armor and some have no weapons. hopefully more guys just keep spawning, idk how it works.

lots missing limbs or otherwise really hosed up so they go down in seconds. beast is less than half in most of its limbs and organs. legs are almost shot, should make it easier once they are crippled...

finally got it after 4 straight days of fighting.

Raptor Island has an easy mega-fauna fight that pays out fairly well if you're in the area anyways.

There's 1-2 mega-raptors that are trapped out on a ruin building. You can position your xbow men to just wear it down/kill it without ever having to step out on the ruin to fight it. Once it's dead, you can get ~20 skins, a bunch of raptor horns that sell for a good price, and maybe a bunch of meat (can't remember on that one).

Plus there's a bunch of odds and ends weapons/armor laying around it's lair.

Side question: Can you actually do anything with the Western Hive Queen? Swam all the way out to her island and seems like nothing to do out there. All the Hive boys just start freaking out if you try to talk to her and she just "reeeeeeeees" the whole time.

The actual mechanics of combat are kind of opaque, but I think it just doesn't work like that. You will take basially no damage, compared to the combat skill of whoever is attacking you, but there will never be a flat chance of just taking no damage at all.

Larry Parrish

You can get very close to taking no damage with high toughness and armor but at that point you'll be cutting off limbs with nearly every hit, if not hitting people in the head and instantly putting them in a coma. Getting ultrahigh dodge is closer to what you want because at a certain point, I think 50 dodge? You no longer seem to take any damage at all during a dodge animation

Dareon

I have seen 0 damage hits (I think it was a ninja sword against a high-ranking Holy Nation guy, so an armor penetration penalty versus a lot of slashing armor), but it's never going to be a really common occurrence and pretty much never against blunt damage due to how armor works. If you stack appropriate shirt, pants, and armor, you could at least have a decent chance of 0-damage hits to your stomach.

My team had somewhat low toughness, but Armor can really give you a massive advantage. I took on the Bugmaster with a squad of people with combat skills of 20 or lower (plus my starting slaves who were jacked) - my crossbowman with no armor died, but everyone else got out of there with maybe 200 damage spread across all their damage zones. Like others have said, you probably won't get down to zero damage, but on my trip there I was getting hit for like two damage against trash mobs.

I finally took out Phoenix in Blister hill. Boy was it something. I hired all the cannibal hunters, tech hunters and flotsam ninjas I could find then went to the back gate, put all my guys on hold and let all the mercs run in. The bughouse nearest the gate has a bugged door that people usually won't run though, but you can pick a guy up and drop him through the door. I cleared that house and put two dudes on the turrets while people slowly streamed out to fight my dudes outside the wall. Apparently you do much better 1 by 1 against strong enemies because they can't take out 8 dudes with one swing if everyone is on hold, then I just made sure everyone ran over to the medic when they covered from being knocked out. Not sure how you are supposed to have an honest fight against Protector of the Flame and Phoenix though, they have nearly 100 stats in everything. I think most people just KO him but I haven't bothered training my assassination up that high.
