Inspector_666 posted:"This is the consulate; we have an important document that needs to be picked up; it may affect your status in the U.S.; press a button to speak with a specialist" Comically, I actually setup a phone system in a Chinese embassy of sorts in the States many years ago. Fast forward last year, I start getting a TON of calls to my cell of angry people yelling in Chinese, with the Caller ID of that business. This goes on for weeks. My phone probably rang about 20-25 times a day. I try calling the number back, but of course it just forwards to my phone and I get my voicemail. Anyone that I speak to that calls doesn't speak english and I can't explain to them situation. I figure that years ago I was testing call forwarding on their system and forwarded the line to my cell, and while I turned off the feature, I didn't remove my number from the default forwarding rule. Eventually I get someone that speaks english that actually works there. I explain to them the situation, and they flip out. They think I've hacked their system and I'm stealing their calls and they are furious. I calm them down and try to explain, but they just don't get it. I tell them to call their phone guy and I'll talk to him. For a few more weeks I get more calls. Finally I get a call from their new IT guy and he's like "hey why haven't you fixed this yet? We expected you to sort this out weeks ago." I explain the situation and he offers to pay me to come fix it for an hour of consulting time. Now, the last time I was there their office manager literally screamed at me and stole my hat, so I'm not eager to go back into that office, so I told him no, that he was on his own. A few more calls later, and a couple more interactions with their IT guy and finally it ended.

I have 3 perfectly functional PixelXL phones in my family on active lines with no issues. My anecdote is 3x more powerful than yours. Even more fun, I have a dead launch-day P3XL that is waiting for its replacement to arrive. So maybe my anecdote is only 2.5x more powerful.

The refurb Pixel I got last week now has the same crashing at 25% battery problem as the last one had, accubattery says it has 70% battery health as well. Google support told me it would've gotten a new battery if it needed it, but guess their standards are pretty low. E: may have found a solution by disabling adaptive battery and brightness, only had 17% battery loss with 1 hr 30 of screen on time. Wonder if it will fix the crashing Heliosicle fucked around with this message at 10:48 on Apr 14, 2019 |

My Pixel after 2 years wouldn't stay on below 20% Then about a month ago it won't boot at all past the swirling orbs boot screen, sometimes it'll get to the recovery mode boot screen if I sit there and try long enough... Even with it plugged in to apower source Nexus 5x had lovely hardware failure too after about a year Not super pleased with hardware quality Nexus S, Moto X in the closet still boot and hold a charge to this day, as well as a Moto G4 I have that I keep on my boat to provide WiFi to some stuff that lives on the boat via a data only sim

Did you find the problem appeared after the Pie update? I should be getting around 4 hrs screen time which isn't too bad. On 33% with an hour's train journey left so we'll see if the crashing still happens.

At 70% battery health, it is going to degrade fast. Most phones are completely unusable at 65%. You want to be asking them a big WTF about that being a viable replacement.

So I'm assuming I may have a hardware problem with my Pixel 3 XL at this point? Out of nowhere last night, my Bluetooth switched off and refuses to turn back on and I keep getting an error message that the Bluetooth app isn't responding. On top of this, my wifi now doesn't turn on properly either and refuses to work This is super frustrating because this phone has been rock solid since I got it a few months ago and now it's completely making GBS threads the bed. I tried resetting wireless settings and I'm thinking of doing a full factory reset but has anyone else had this happen? I've had no issues, no errors, hell I haven't even dropped this thing once leading up to my problems

Did you reboot the phone? I had a similar problem where I couldn't turn WiFi on, couldn't even get into the settings app. Had to hard reset the phone because it froze rebooting. Been fine for these past few days since

Yeah I've tried rebooting it multiple times and still nothing, I've never had a device that had two of it's biggest wireless features cease working out of the blue like this, it's a bit ridiculous

I will soon get the S10e and was wondering for best practices coming from an S7 Edge. Any and all advice is welcome, considering the old phone and the new phone. In particular: (1) Things to do or know or configure with the new S10E (2) Best practices in moving my data. For instance, game data (all the gained powerups in Candy Crush!) is preserved. I want to migrate some but not all of my apps. I've read Smart Switch is not that good so not sure on how to approach that. But beyond this, again, all advice and tips welcome! Been a while since I switched phones.

Why does my phone sometimes lock up for 10secs? Moto G4 Play, running 7.1.1 stock While I am opening an app, it will randomly freeze for about 10 secs before continuing. Seems to happen with multiple apps (gmail, iplayer, podcast player etc): Maps is particularly bad and will sometimes 'not responding' 50% memory usage. Phone Check and Test says the processor and the memory is working fine. I've tried a few things: deleting used/shonky apps, removing the memory card, wipe and restore, but it still does this. Any ideas what else to try?
