Wonder how many acts have sung a track not in/entirely English on the show. Its obviously not for a ton of people but it’s probably the best booking SNL have done in years with regards to getting something big that the audience wants rather than the usual generic crap they book.

I've seen better musical acts in a casino basement in Reno. Where did they find these talentless twits?

You know, I'd like to say that the bad boy is the one for me, but I bet the blonde haired guy is a more caring lover.

From reading the thread you'd think there was a couple of sketches then BTS played the rest of the night. I thought the Melissa rap was alright and the ladies room sketch worked for me.

BTS was the most ridiculous thing all evening. It was an awkward episode...not bad, just stilted.

Thought the Ladies Room sketch was weird and didn’t do much for me. The A.V. Club let me know that it’s based on a real music video. Right down to the dude in a chair: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_odTlZaoLCA

Yo, the Tekashi 69 gag was kind of hosed up. They played him off of crimes not as heinous as him making and distributing a porno with a 13 year old girl.

I honestly didn't know what the gently caress a Tekashi 69 even was before that skit. I figured it was just some rando goofy-looking dude, but then the look was quite distinctive, so I looked it up. I hate it when SNL makes me learn poo poo like Tekashi 69.

I said essentially the same thing to my wife. I hate that he’s somehow famous enough to be parodied on SNL and then they didn’t even bother to actual call out his worst crimes.

Lol everyone in this thread is such an old. My fiancé is a huge BTS fan so I was pretty aware of them already before this episode, but their choreography is always impressive every time I see it. Also, between the Klymaxx sketch this year and the Oran Juice Jones sketch last year, who on the writing staff is in love with bizarre ‘80s R&B videos?

BigBallChunkyTime posted:Don't worry. I only recently (within the last couple of months) learned what a Cardi B was. You didn't know what a Cardi B was? Clearly, you weren't a teenager in the very late 80s and early 90s, because the hip fashion at the time was the preppy look. Girls were spending $50 on sweatshirts and the same for shorts, as long as they were from B.U.M. Equipment. The look for the cool guys involved dark slacks that were tight-rolled, a belt without a big-ol' buckle, styled hair (using mousse and/or hairspray), and of course, a mock-turtleneck shirt with a fashionable Cardi B sweater over it.

For me it’s the era when Kevin Nealan was at the update desk with Sandler, Spade, Carvey, Farley, etc. But I actually dig this cast a ton because they are all around my age so the same brand of humor I guess.
