The thing about the Sonic comics is that they were entirely unrelated to the games (apart from adapting specific game plots from time to time) so there's at least a dozen different Sonic "universes" at this point. As an Aussie, we only got one of the cartoons (not the weird grim dark one), and we got the comics. Maybe you just missed them?
