I decided to check to see how many American fleet carriers they should have, based upon the lucky ship list and Wikipedia. I don't know which, if any, Essex classes served in the European theater, but I can't imagine it was many. So there's at least 12 full fleet carriers out there somewhere, and probably more since probably not all the assumed sunk carriers are dead. On the other hand, I wonder if the allies get any more Essexes after the Lake Champlain, since the others (Kearsarge, Leyte, Valley Forge, Princeton, Tarawa, and Phillipine Sea) were all commissioned after WW2 ended. Seen & Alive: Essex Hornet Intrepid Lexington II Wasp II Seen & Maybe/Probably/Maybe-Definitely Dead: Bunker Hill (assumed sunk, last seen 11.6.44) Enterprise (assumed sunk, last seen 11.28.42) Franklin (assumed sunk, last seen 7.28.44) Hornet II (assumed sunk, last seen 5.22.44) Lexington (assumed sunk, last seen 11.29.42) Ticonderoga (assumed sunk, 10.23.44) Yorktown II (assumed sunk, 5.8.44) Definitely Sunk: Saratoga (sunk 11.16.42) Wasp (sunk 8.2.42) Yorktown (sunk 11.17.42) Not Seen: Antietam (commissioned 1.28.45) Bennington (commissioned 8.6.44) Bon Homme Richard (commissioned 11.26.44) Boxer (commissioned 4.16.45) Hancock (commissioned 4.15.44) Randolph (commissioned 6.29.44) Shangri-La (commissioned 9.15.44)

Grey Hunter posted:I can't actually remember the last time I saw and allied carrier. not even a CL or a CVE! Wouldn't that have been the brief appearance of the RN CV group (Unicorn, Hermes and a couple of others) a couple of months back? They turned up, stuffed your transport fleets face in and then disappeared never to be seen again. That said the British Pacific fleet should be fully active by now, with around 21 carriers of various forms, and I don't think any of the surface ships of the BPF have made an appearance yet either, although a few were July 45'.

When the war ends, could you load the Allie's file and see where all their poo poo is Grey? Maybe do a final tour and show us where the interesting ships were hidden?

The carriers have a warm welcome for the Privateers. The damaged ships heading to Japan are engaged, but protect themselves well. More enemy planes are taken out in the afternoon raid. Ndeni also gets hot in the afternoon. Our strike kills a destroyer. Two more ships go down. That was an effective day – 2:1 kills once more. Two more destroyers added to the kill list.

With the complete lack of Allied heavy units, is it time for a Full on carrier raid of a major port? Brisbane/Sydney?

The Allies probably have like 2-300 planes at this point in each of them. Probably more honestly. Port Moresby itself probably has more planes than the entire KB loadout at full strength. And probably lot heavier ones - heavy army fighters and bombers. DOn't get into an attrition fight with the USAAF. Also is losing 30 planes in one day generally good for you or your production and training keeping up with this? Also if the USN comes out in full force do you think you could handle them realistically or not (not that they seem to be willing to for whatever reason) wedgekree fucked around with this message at 07:22 on Apr 20, 2019 |

19 April 1945 M-403, yet another of those ubiquitous German minesweepers, is sunk in the Kattegat by RAF Coastal Command.

These guys are in the area, they may as well do something! Oh for gods sake, where's your escort? Over here it seems. Another good strike here. The afternoon strike does not mess around. It's been a while since we sank a troop convoy. I'm willing to accept the plane losses, if I get days like that! Of course, now I want to finish off the convoy....

Not bad, as well as three escort kills in about two days of airstrikes. That least makes some dent too.

Batfish slinks away to rethink his superhero design. Effective night bombing! I'm actually shocked. Dakka dakka dakka! Yeah, things are still going well. Escorts? Es-corts? Better! These are still some costly raids though! Heavy losses on both sides today. I'm shipping more planes to Guadalcanal – I think It may be a useful spot to set up an airfield.

Well done lads! A poor choice of targets. Boom boom boom. It was mostly scouts getting shot down today. Oh god they're back. I can always count on the boys at Guam! I need to stop these guys. We have a poor day at Munda. Looks like they landed and re-embarked their troops at Ndeni. Grey Hunter fucked around with this message at 04:51 on Apr 25, 2019 |

I'm actually giving serious thought to calling this on August 15th - the AI is deadlocked, and unless they pull something out of the hat then its just going to be another year of nothing - the combat engine won't let me attack, and the AI won't come for me. Operation Silk Road will hit in a week or two, once they have crossed a river and climbed a mountain, but if that stalls, then there is nothing to do but wait for the nukes - if the AI can use them. I'm not sure how much fun this is for everyone anymore!
