I love both the ultra-optimistic development timeline and the idea that YIIK got more than one remaster because it was obviously just so loving good And that the dev called the remaster the equivalent of "[title]_final_(2)"

  Torrid Tales is a renpy visual novel using 3dcg graphics and sound for a more immersive story. It's about a small neighborhood that becomes an unknowingly part of an alien science project. That corrupts their morals and leads them to a lifestyle of debauchery. from the changelog: Added 1 skippable lesbian scene. Added the first skippable mild cuckold scene. Fixed a whole bunch of misspelled words and grammar issues (not claiming to have gotten them all) The script of the previous versions has been rewritten to remove some of the intentional vagueness that was by design to create the "oh poo poo now I understand" that is to be reveled as the story unfolds. ( I made it too vague)

Kinda does seem like the people making YIIK had some decent cred with the indie community and at least some of them thought the game looked promising before it came out and turned out to be actually pretty terrible. I'm guessing most of them guessed that at worst it would be harmlessly quirky, but you know how these things pan out.
