Are you talking about in their respective countries? Because restaurants in Italy make heavy use of local produce and eating at nice sushi restaurant in Japan typically means they were up early in the morning at the fish market.

Contrast that with Singapore, where basically all of the ingredients for anything other than street food are shipped in from well outside of the Malay peninsula. Which isn't to say that there isn't good food in Singapore, it just means that any dish requiring non-local ingredients isn't going to be mind-blowing. That's the true for any agriculturally restricted area really.

Completely disagree with this, personally. If a restaurant is willing to spend on the resources, with globalization that is easily possible and ingredients and recipes can be duplicated anywhere. My favorite sushi meal wasn’t in Japan.

New York has absolutely mind blowing dishes using ingredients that aren’t local. Anything can be realistically taken anywhere, it’s a question of cost and talent of preparation. Singapore has the willingness and population with the wealth to draw these things.

This is getting off topic, my apologies.

That being said, if pot was legal, edibles would make long flights so much easier until some idiot took way too much and started freaking out

Who here that travels regularly ever has TSA go through their stuff to that degree?

If you’re that worried, buy a bag of candy, a spare ziploc bag, and mix them all together. As long as you remember which ones are covered in THC you’re fine.

I had that exact thing happen last week with beard moisturizer and the guy was like, "well, you've used half of it, so I'll let it slide" like he was doing me a giant favor.

And the hosed up thing about the TSA is, he was doing me a favor.

Being a federal agency they could seriously ram a stick up your rear end over edibles whether you're in a legal state or not, those I wouldn't risk.

How would they even know? If you have TSA Pre you don't take anything out of your bag.

If you fly frequently and don't have TSA Pre I don't know what to tell you other than you're doing this wrong.

FWIW, the security staff at Heathrow and Frankfurt make TSA look like a model of courtesy and efficiency. Which should tell you something about how horrible it is to deal with either of those airports.

Also, jfc BA's hard product sucks so bad. The only way I can use my table is to prop it up with my knee because the hinge is gone and otherwise my laptop and drink would slide off into the aisle. I was on a ropey old AA A330 out of CLT on Tuesday and even that was infinitely preferable to this.

I've lost about 20 lbs this year despite the travel.
I basically don't drink anymore, maybe two beers a week, and I mostly skip breakfast, sometimes I'll grab an orange or a bowl of fruit.
I'm mostly travelling solo, and mostly to bigger cities, so there is no excuse to live off fast food.

The dining options and food quality are so much better now than they were in my old territory, it's not even funny, the only time it becomes a problem is when I'm rolling with my boss. Dude has a serious aversion to veggies, pretty sure all he eats is BBQ and pizza,

I've definitely lost weight since I stopped traveling domestically and started covering APAC. Hard to stay fat when your average meal out is like 400 calories of fish and rice.

Speaking of TSA and pot products, DFW staff have been jailing people pretty consistently for a while now over the THC content of their CBD oils:

You guys are ridiculous for risking that with TSA. Every experience with them is completely anecdotal and dependent on the exact person you get based on luck, in part because their training and consistency is garbage as is the entire organization. On the chance you're wrong, you're risking a lifelong misdemeanor on your record.

I once had a TSA agent threaten me and get very aggressive because I was curious about how those x-ray machines work. As I came out the other side, I politely asked the agent guy "How do those things even work?" and he said "None of your drat business" and got all up in my face - keep in mind I was a scrawny 21 year old being accompanied by my dad for medical treatment lmao. A female colleague of his quickly came up and sorta moved me along and said it's okay.

America is fuckin weird. In the UK, they'd just have said it's not something they can disclose. Would never risk something like CBD oil, cause you get some power tripping bastards who can totally ruin your day.

I always get "randomly selected" cause I'm ethnic looking with an Arabic name. Bag always gets searched going through security in Heathrow. Once got randomly selected at a layover in Iceland flying to New York right as the plane was boarding. It was very stressful cause I felt like we'd miss the flight. It was me, one other ethnic (Pakistani?) guy who was visibly nervous, and two white guys who were even more petrified (one was on the verge of tears yelling about how he had to tell his gf like he was being taken out back to be shot or something). I've been randomly selected so many times that it doesn't even phase me anymore, so I told the two white guys not to worry and it was probably me and the other guy they were really interested in. Asked one of the security escorting us to the searching rooms if we'd be cavity searched, and was told "only if you behave" with a wink. Icelandic security is chill.
