It's real depressing and a little funny that gofundme has become a key part of American healthcare

the number one dispatch address, which had 40x as many dispatches as #3, was the walmart
the number two, with 30x as many dispatches, was...the other walmart

they get tax breaks to move into a town, underemploy and underinsure their employees, and then they get to use the loving local cops as their personal loss prevention pinkertons. they call the cops every. loving. time.

I watched this happen when I lived on the east side of Cleveland. Walmart built a super center a couple of miles away in another municipality abd they were pretty stoked about it until their police overtime budget exploded. At any given moment, there were at least three cruisers parked at the Walmart. They ended up having to raise taxes to pay for it. Owned.

I call bullshit's on overwork to death in such a large number. I remember you have to play mmo nonstop for 3 days and 3 night to drop death. If it's this easy to work to death we should have 1000 video game dev death stories by now.

I read that article on CNN twice and still think this whole article is bullshit.

The BBC article says long hours, sweltering conditions which sounds like heatstroke to me. The thing about game devs and mmo guys working long hours is they do that work indoors with the AC on. Heatstroke is fast and deadly if you've never seen it before. I'm actually surprised the deathtoll isn't way higher.

Going by the number of people we had counting votes in my district when I volunteered there must've been hundreds of thousands of workers in the Indonesian elections. Between a bunch of old farts volunteering and maybe some pressure to get the results out by some random deadline in tropical conditions 200 dead is hefty but not completely unbelievable.

It's possible a percentage of them died from natural causes if the number of counters was high enough. Need actual numbers tho.
