Yesterday I finished court unexpectedly early so instead of going back to the office I pulled a Don Draper and caught an Avengers matinee. I felt mildly guilty about it until I saw a dude from the county attorney's office at the same showing.

Mr. Nice! posted:I’m interested but haven’t found anything where I’m qualified. Most posts I’ve seen require 2-5 years practice where I’m not officially at a year yet, even. So I’ve got to build up my resume more. You just need to get your first Federal job, then you can switch. Management and Program Analysts and Contract Specialists are two job series that tend to get lots of people with law degrees. In the past month two people I that worked in other parts of my agency jumped into agency Attorney positions after spending 3-4 years in their prior role. Having veterans preference will make it much easier to get through USAJobs for that initial role. Also since you have veteran's preference you can hop between agencies getting grade increases quickly as soon as you have your one year at grade level for common job series, so don't be shy about taking a GS-7 or GS-9 if the job sounds interesting.

Even when it's just going home to Netflix. Just walking out of the office while other people are working is a true joy.

It's the third series of online tests, this one is also on accounting, but we're finally getting into simulated TCO duties, supposedly. The accounting tests are all soul-crushing because they frequently test concepts not covered in any of the basics books I have been reading, but they're also so badly designed I can usually brute force a correct answer by reverse testing all the others.

Did you have any problems logging into the testing site, because the same ID and pass values that worked for the last two, which it gave me again for this one, suddenly don't freaking work. My having a different trajectory is already frustrating enough. edit: nevermind, I figured it out. They committed a colossal error in their communications system.

Does every young lawyer have the same problem where they either hugely overestimate or underestimate their abilities Every second year call I run into lately is either deeply, needlessly, obviously anxious, or unbearably swaggering and pompous and self-assured in their own abilities. doesn't seem like there's any in between

# ? Apr 29, 2019 00:56 |

having been one: the swaggering ones are overcompensating because they don't know how to deal with the existential dread they feel every goddamn day

https://globalnews.ca/news/5207753/prominent-ontario-lawyer-pleads-guilty-to-bigamy-forging-divorce-documents/ Whatever you’re going through, reach out for help and talk to someone before it comes to this. I’m actually pretty happy the Law Society has free counselling support. It’s been helpful even for me and I’m nowhere near as deep as a lot of lawyers. Take care law goons.

Imagine a lawyer being too afraid of confrontation to just file for his own divorce. inversely, imagine a wife so terrible that an actual lawyer was too afraid of her to actually file for divorce.

He told investigators he was living at his office in Hamilton, but still resided with his wife in theory and was “back and forth” with his wife. He also said there were some problems in the marriage, but he was trying to work it out. the real question is how on earth he planned to manage the logistics of this lie considering that since his mistress is someone who works for him, she'd know if he tried to lie about working late/traveling to cover for when he spent time with his real wife evilweasel fucked around with this message at 21:02 on Apr 29, 2019 |

Are they paying your exam fees? “Hmmm, Mr. Toona has a law license. Why isn’t he a lawyer? Why are we paying him 20% more instead of getting someone with slightly less experience that won’t leave us for a lawyer job?”
