Then you have the Duterte shirt guy, the Totenkopf 40k knight, Black Sun roller, etc. There might be more under the surface but those legitimately could be people that aren't hyper aware of this stuff just using the wrong symbols. Obviously feel free to call people out that use those symbols because most people will react reasonably but if you find yourself witch hunting for secret fascists you might be going too far.

There seems to be three tiers to the subjects of this thread: 1.) Actual fascists. 2.) Fascist-adjacent or, at best, just ignorant (Duterte shirt guy, Black Sun roller) 3.) Seeing fascists where there are none (a group of old dadgamers who seem otherwise very good and even wear anti-confederate T-shirts but OH NO they shot some German guns once!) The treatment of each group should probably be, in order: 1.) Call out and shun 2.) Call out and either shun or educate based on their response 3.) loving ignore, these people aren't even fascists or fash-adjacent to begin with

Just be a normal person and ask them if they intended to use a nazi or fascist or whatever symbol. If you get aggressive and weird with it some people will tell you to go gently caress yourself because of the call out. The times I've seen actual fascist types they are more than happy to talk about it and you can safely shun them after confirming it.

It was very well done, with lots of fine detail and well executed paint work. The models were kept in a nice travel case and handled with care. Jack also had a WWII German army. They were painted with a single coat of black spraypaint and kept in a cardboard box with the word "FASCISTS" written on the side. When a German unit was eliminated from the game Jack would toss it into the box from across the room. Be like Jack.

There's a father/son team that play regularly on the game night at the historicals store near me. What a Tanker is popular for quick pickup games here, and dad agreed to buy his son a tank platoon of his choice if he got straight As. Son wanted an Axis platoon, and got all As and 1 B. So dad bought him a bunch of Italian L3s. I'd be concerned about the son, but I think Dad's got it well in hand.

There is a certain kitsch to Italian fascismo so perhaps the kid just has good taste in his cartoonish buffoon army choice. Also I like this thread and don't want it to close - it's already put in some decent work. I don't want it to be needlessly obnoxious to moderate for Beer and I see why making this thread a callout space for other goons can go wrong, but conversely there are very practical reasons why this thread shouldn't also be a safe place for fash and fash-adjacent elements can come to defend themselves. I feel like we cultivate an amazing hobby community on these forums and a huge part of that is both the active moderation alongside a shared sense of responsibility among all involved to keep this place mostly positive and inclusive. There's no compromise to be had with fash of course, but can we not just put the parties in question on ignore and go about our lives? That doesn't work in the real world of course but I see no reason it wouldn't work here.
