The first and only episode of Red Scare I listened to started with one of the hosts talking about her ongoing conversion to Judaism. I then turned the podcast off because I was expecting political content, not her talking about her religious experience.

Lol it’s literally never come up since. Also lol at calling them TERFs. I’ve never heard anything along those lines from them. Their main targets of criticism are upper middle class libs who primarily post as their means of political activism.

I don't think Dasha had any religious thing -- she's just converting to make Adam's family happy.

They’ve never denied he isn’t creepy. And frankly, their argument for why it’s possible Mia coached her kid convinced me there was a non-zero chance. And Mia isn’t the most stable laid-back person either. Haven’t some of her adopted children called her out for really awful behavior?

If there's one thing I've learned from Online, it's that being able to accuse all your critics of anti-Semitism is extremely powerful.

I’m not saying gently caress Mia or Woody innocent. Just that it’s probably not as cut and dry as Mia has presented it. I went into the episode rolling my eyes at Dasha and Anna, they presented their evidence and argument, and they changed my mind somewhat.

I thought Red Scare was meant to be Cum Town with overeducated women instead of 30 year old men who can't figure out percentages or the colour wheel. Is it supposed to be taken remotely seriously as a political/cultural podcast?

There are a million reasons to ruin things.
anna has a lot of lovely opinions but she is more or less some version of socialist with a contrarian/edgelord streak that makes for mindlessly entertaining podcasts, not even close to fascist imo

in a previous job i had direct experience with a case where a mentally ill mother coached her young child to accuse her father of molestation, so i'm more sympathetic to their woody allen take than most, i guess

I've followed Anna on twitter for ages and have seen sooooo many reactionary hot takes come and go so I always laugh when someone pops in and acts surprised that she's a shithead. honestly she's only coy about it because otherwise she gets frozen out of the New York art and fashion scenes.

I'm not making any claims as to whether it's irony or not. My personal tolerance for "Schrodinger fascist" and ironic douchebaggery is just low enough that I never felt the need to give the show much of a listen if that's the type of material they like to do. That Amber went on the show is certainly a point in their favor, but she's been pretty open about how most of us maintain friendships with people who are "ideologically troubled", but I would not be surprised if Red Scare hosts are being taken out of context.

I wish Felix would do more stuff in the same voice as the fighting documentary on the pod. He's really good when he's not doing purposefully bad takes. Just have him switch in for Matt every other episode if it causes issues with them stepping on each other.
