I can understand not wanting to play with mods, it's how I spent my first like 200 hours with the game back on the original Xbox, but I don't know if I could do it now without at least the bug fixes and stability patches.

I like your style hombre, but this is no laughing matter. Assault on a police officer. Theft of police property. Illegal possession of a firearm. FIVE counts of attempted murder. That comes to... 29 dollars and 40 cents. Cash, cheque, or credit card?

Yeah, my cheap (non-:30bux:) joke was just 'cause I've always loved having mods that add small or fitting stuff in-game. The idea of having a straightforward modern Morrowind release that doesn't require bug fixes or stability patches is definitely a Good Thing™.

Then again, I haven't tried out what the Steam release is like, or how (or if) the game would play if I just installed from CDs and hit Go. It either wouldn't launch or would be at least a bit better than it was on my Pentium III. I wonder. Something to test out when I'm bored, or as a prelude to a fresh modded install.

I'd probably just run it in a 1600x1200 window. A friend recently played through the game like that; didn't bother with widescreen, just used a window with comparable res to an '04 monitor. He seemed to like it.

0.11.0
- 4GB patch applied to MGEXEgui.
- Fixed slow mouse movement and dropped inputs when frame rate was too high (e.g. in small interiors).
- Distant statics generator handles incorrect NIFs better and most hangs are solved.
- Distant statics generator displays current processing NIF to help find bad NIFs.
- Rendering improved to avoid cracks in some modded skinned meshes.
- Dynamic ripples wave border artifacts fixed. Ripple simulation pauses in menu mode.
- Shaders like SSAO/DoF no longer glitch when equipping inventory items in the menu.
- HDR shader has a slightly wider range of brightness adaptation.
- SSAO shaders behave better in fog, and no longer have artifacts on more distant objects.
- Sunshafts shader now has a more consistent sun disc size and brightness.
- Distant land generator texture size limit increased to 8192. Only recommended when using mods with added landmass.
- Changed FPS limiter range limit back to 240.
- No longer gives a renderer error when using 2x or higher vsync in windowed mode.
- Distant land and FFE shaders can be live reloaded by toggling distant land, post shaders can be live reloaded by toggling shaders.
- Multiple component buildings like Vivec cantons will now appear in one piece once in distant land view range, instead of the component parts appearing separately.

Upside: Jesus Wolverine Hall was a mess, thank you so much.
Downside: I knew my way to everything I wanted to get to incredibly quickly and this'll screw with my muscle memory.

Still a net good, looking forward to trying it out.

Question about the modathon: What're the rules on recreating old mods? Does it need to be something original for this May? When I noticed it was coming up, my mind went to a very simple mod I made and put on PlanetElderScrolls like 15 years ago. I'm sure no one would notice, but it'd be nice to follow whatever official guideline there is.

they threw the baby out with the bathwater and are excluding all updates to existing mods, even if its 15 years old

that being said if its a PES mod that isn't available on http://mw.modhistory.com/, then literally no one will know/care. maybe name it something different lol

They were fine with us recreating Graphic Herbalism, but that’s probably because it’s almost completely new and we had to do everything from scratch. So if you’re remaking a mod from scratch and doing it completely differently, that’s fine. They don’t penalize people for reusing an idea, just updating an existing mod that already has a user base (I feel like I’m skirting a line there tgh)

I think Tel Shadow was made by Skynet and sent back from the future, but instead of wanting to kill Sarah Connor he was designed to make Morrowind dungeon mods.

That said, are they any good? I do like dungeon romps but I get prickly about lore.

i'd have rather seen an overhaul to rotheran or valenvaryon, those two are lame as balls.

also hlormaren is always my home in morrowind, you should try it some time if you haven't. it owns, hard. especially when you command creature mudcrab over to it.

It is on ModHistory. Wow. I hadn't checked before.

To be clear, on the topic of recreating it in a different way, doing a new spin, etc.: The mod was literally just replacing the starting iron dagger with an unenchanted Fork of Horripilation "Iron Fork". It was absolutely babby's first mod, but it was the first thing that came to mind as something I could do (had done) to technically be part of the modathon.

Now I want to do something, though. Gotta think of something original ...

New Graphic Herbalism now works with OpenMW’s latest nightly. Don’t need to configure anything, just install the GH meshes and you’re good to go.

You don’t get the cool tooltips in OpenMW though, at least until they support lua or something.

By coincidence, I just ran through it a few days ago to get a modded install going after a hard drive cleanup. Everything in there should be accurate, but if you see any broken links let me know.

OpenMW is a complicated question. It definitely will be better once they get to version 1.0, but they're not quite there yet so YMMV.

Fun fact: in the French translation of Morrowind, it became the Serval Hall. Now, servals are pretty cool:

But why swap them in for another animal that's completely different?

Turns out that in French, the name for the wolverine is glutton, and it doesn't sound as cool. Hall of the Glutton, really? So the translators looked for how other translators before them tackled the problem. I'm speaking of this Wolverine:

So my game crashes whenever I talk to an NPC, and I've figured out it's due to the UI expansion dialog changes. It only started happening partway through the Tribunal main quest, which makes me think it has something to do with the number of topics available (being a clever poo poo I tried to collect as many topics as possible - did you know there are topics for every skill, every attribute, each different kind of potion, and every subclass of weapon?). Is there any way to troubleshoot and figure out what's going on? I'm loathe to just turn UI expansion off because it's such a useful mod.
