I am definitely all in with Horgan and the NDP, he’s doing a great job imo.

Sometimes I wish he’d cut loose a little more, he used to be a lot more unvarnished in his opinions.

Look at the gaps between the Cons and everybody else in Alberta in the last federal election.

Alberta is a lost cause, PET hosed it for a loving century with the NEP.

the CHUDs hate Trudeau more than they ever did Notley.

even before the nep alberta was electing 100% con MPs

the last time the conservative party didn't win the vast majority of MPs in a federal election was 1957, when the socreds (conservatives under a different name) won instead

That's what the socreds were by the 1950s, sure, but in Alberta they started off not so different from Tommy Douglas... a bunch of fundamentalist wing nuts who were kinda into social( credit)ism.

yeah there's a nice line in their wiki about this

quote:

After Aberhart's death in 1943 and the rise to leadership of Ernest Manning, followed quickly by the discovery of oil in north-central Alberta and its accompanying wealth for many, Social Credit took on a more conservative hue. Its policies were pro-business and anti-union, and largely opposed to government intervention in the economy.

it may have started out as weirdo socialism-lite but then they struck oil and preston manning's dad took over and so began a century of conservative darkness

Those MRI machines deserve to go home to their families at night and enjoy weekends and holidays. It’s discriminatory to not give a valued worker in the healthcare system these things just because they happen to be a set of rotating death magnets that weigh a gajillion pounds.

Like every other important machine in healthcare, I assume it is maintained by one of two private manufacturer repairmen in the entire province - neither of whom live in a major metropolitan area, to keep costs down for the American parent corporation - and who are not trained in diagnostics or have a stock of spare parts for what they actually do, which is high-speed parts swapping and shrugging.

Under Harper, Canadian scientists were silenced about climate change. Phone calls were monitored. Scientists were threatened, ruined. They would be followed around by government minders. It's pretty hosed up.

Harper created a whole bureaucracy for it. Also concerned media in general.

erm, but if a house is on a flood plain and catastrophic floods are getting worse, nobody would or should buy it for any price. Governments should prevent people from moving there since they’d just be bailing them out. (literally)

Don’t really get what is hot takey about that.
