For some reason I thought it was only in a war context that the Red Cross symbols were protected, but it makes sense to have a blanket rule especially now that wars are never declared according to the proper rules :dungeonmaster:

Regardless, your video game violating the Geneva convention is pretty funny

The Red Cross (the symbol) is a protected symbol under the Geneva Conventions, and they don't like it being used in video games (they've been pretty lax in the past about it tho)
As an example, EarthBound used the red cross on hospitals in Japan but then removed it in localization:

(the kind of thing that Nintendo probably enforced in America but nobody actually cared about in Japan because no enforcement)

Their main concern was that military games would encourage people to think of medics as targets, which they did and do to this day

Yes, and the anti-guerrilla special forces and different intelligence agencies running recon missions under the disguise of humanitarian missions from Red Cross and such have nothing to do with that.

This really isn't the place for it but technically international humanitarian law doesn't really care if war is "declared" it's all just predicated on the existence of an "armed conflict"

But yeah I don't blame the Red Cross for not wanting their symbol in video games where you cause death and destruction and deliberately target the medic.

I also remember some South American army spec-ops unit, or hired mercenaries, rescuing high-profile hostages by disguising as relief workers and pulling guns on the unsuspecting guerrillas or such. It was irresponsible enough to plop into international news, I think around ~2008?

I mean, if you're a successful actress and you go out of the house in a skirt and without underwear, knowing that paparazzi are just waiting for opportunities like this and that it has happened many times before, then there's really nobody you can blame for it but yourself.
The punchline is that "it's only a war crime when others do it" is official US foreign policy and has been since World War 2.

I don't understand why they made a remaster of the most boring AssCreed. Why not 4, or 2?

Toilet Rascal
4 and 2 are already available on current gen. 4 was a dual release, 2 was remastered as part of the Ezio Collection bundle.

4 is a current/cross-generation game and they remade 2, Brotherhood and Revelations already.

Rogue was also remastered last year so it's not surprisingly to see 3 (along with Liberation) get redone as well.

How well is that remaster selling, anyway? Anybody know? I've seen it around, but, well, I already didn't like it a lot even the first time around.

Kinda like most people, I guess, which makes me wonder.

It doesn't really sound like it ought to be, really, at least on paper... but the thing with Asscreed games is that they're really only at their best when they play to their strengths, and that means means having big and beautiful cities to run around and be an rear end in a top hat in.

Big and beautiful cities is something colonial America just kind of lacks. A little. Black Flag makes up for it by being 50% Sid Meier's Pirates! by volume, but that's enough to still have it work.

That, and Connor is really just kind of a non-entity compared to the colorful personalities of Ezio and Pirate Boy.

Rogue definitely sold less than AC3 did and was not a good game. I recall more about Connor than Shay honestly - I had to google just to remember what his name was. I mean seriously, what WAS Shay's personality?

But none of this talk is a game glitch, fortunately NPCs showing up unexpectedly in cutscenes happens in multiple AC games! :allears: Here's one from Unity:
