Spanish football is a different sort of mess, where the gap between the have nots, haves, and Barca/Real is immense and the way money distributed through the league reinforces that. Plus poo poo like saying in 2014 that Eibar should be relegated to the third division despite earning promotion to La Liga because they didn't have enough of the bullshit fake "capital" that the Spanish teams use to pretend that they're fiscally sound. Italy though, is the only one I can think of that has rejiggered its lower professional leagues like 2-3 times in the past decade because all the teams keep going bankrupt due to horrible financial management AND had a massive, massive match fixing scandal involving its less than 15 years ago. e: I'm definitely not an expert, so feel free to tell me to gently caress off if I'm getting major facts wrong or forgetting something huge.
