big scary monsters posted:lol ok if nobody is working on autopilot for more than a few months before quitting it makes a lot more sense why they don't yet have the level of object recognition capability of your average student robotics project every time we hire someone who's really good at predicting outcomes from available data, they take a look at the state of our company and quit why might that be i wonder

Combat Theory posted:The grey thread is extremely wrong about air bags today but i think im just gonna post some pics of Nikita (the Wolf dog) when I get home and have a lazy evening Should that car's air bags have gone off in the video where it crashed through the storefront? The collision seemed a little low speed for that (especially frontal deceleration). Does the law say they do not deploy under 35mph? If so most people do not know that and I would say the majority wrong opinion about airbags is then "every collision should set them off and if they didn't go off, then car is broken", said by people that include those who have never been in a collision

MomJeans420 posted:Tesla is so on track to FSD autonomous taxis that they shook up the autpilot team with wunderkind Musk at the helm now. When a software project finished a phase, it is common to let those coder leave if you do not have a use for them. I am not saying that is the case here, as I do not know. However, it is a fact that Musk understands software and code, so there is no way anyone could pull the wool over his eyes on timelines and the software not being feature complete. I think you will be shocked at just how quickly AI and machine learning will pick up the massive amounts of raw data and provide the FSD software with a visual understanding of environments in real time. If you want to be cynical on Musk it would be better to say he is now moving in to reap the glory of other peoples hard work.

reading about Tesla's latest fundraising: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimcol...s/#64fe91a7222c they have basically kicked the can down the road and raised effectively zero capital. pretty much all the money they raised will need to go towards paying off their previous convertible bonds. not only that but the article suggests that Tesla has been purposely depressing capital spending in order to maintain cashflow lol. all this for a company that has admitted it can't do gently caress all without massive capital expenditures.
