I figured they were going for one of those "double meaning" kanji. I don't know much at all about this poo poo or how to speak/spell Japanese but a band I like (Dir En Grey), from what I read about them, are really good about using like, double entendres in the names of some songs with kanji or something. Sort of like a "context matters" or "the way you read it" kind of thing. So... what might they have been going for? Melting certainly makes sense for my burn victim take on the tattoo (lol) but not really an angel/demon combo. I would think something like transformation, or is there some kanji that can be read as good/evil or light/dark.. hell, angel/demon depending on how its read? I know I am putting way too loving much thought in this, it's late and I'm tired. But, hosed up Kanji tattoos are always hilarious. I don't have any tattoos and have no real plans to get one (not that I have anything against it), but the local hockey team has apparently partnered with a couple studios to give away free tattoos of their logo during the next several away games and I'm kind of thinking this is just dumb enough to be a good idea. I'm not even a big fan of hockey but the stupid goon part of my brain thinks it would be hilarious. Actual fans of the team won't like it, fans of other teams won't like it, and everybody else will either think you're a dumb fan or - if they know you're actually not a (big) fan at all - will just think you're dumb, period. It's a dumb idea, don't do it. Get a pizza reaper instead if you want something silly.

I was using kanji translators and putting in radicals that are easy to confuse and came up with this. This 伶 Which got alteres when plugged into Google translate.  Yours seems much more likely, since it is probably supposed to symbolise how the tattooee is a combination of evil and good. This is what we generally see for Harmony, though I don't think it has the correct connotation for what the pictured meth head probably wanted.

Whatever it's supposed to be, it seems to be missing at least one stroke, and the fade isn't doing it any favors. It's close to 恰 in Japanese, but there's always going to be that line between the "roof" and the "box".
