does the pathos-laden stuff ease up later on? I just started watching from the beginning and the stuff with the mentioned steakhouse and the summer holidays with the affair were not what I was expecting from a goofy 90s sitcom. Eddie is the only good jack russell, every jack russell I've ever met has been owned by a cranky old fucker who has never bothered to do any training or socialisation and will let it hassle me and my dogs and do nothing while saying "it just wants to play don't worry"

The lines that drive me nuts are when Jimmy the ex-con asks Daphne, "Manchester... that's where the Beatles were from, right?" (I have never met anyone, in my *life*, even if they knew Jack loving poo poo about the Beatles, who didn't know they were from Liverpool. MARTIANS know the Beatles were from Liverpool). And then when Daphne says "Nobody's from Manchester, that's why I moved". Like... Okay, I guess Joy Division, the Smiths, and Oasis aren't worth mentioning. Makes sense.

Moose and his son were apparently incredibly well trained dogs and considered actors rather than props. I enjoyed Frasier a lot as a kid, wouldn't be surprised if other kids did too. A lot of stuff won't make sense but Frasier is loud and funny and everyone understands a farce.

Duh I'm Niles Crane. I'm laid up in the hospital about to have my ribs and sternum cracked open and my heart fiddled with and not only do I take a call from my bitter horrible ex wife with my current wife standing right next to me, I sit there and take her meddling into my personal life like the idiot I am

Dinner at Eight Ish is a fun episode of Cheers and starts a long tradition of Crane dinner parties. Then immediately following it is an episode with John Cleese where Frasier does his Yum-Yum role from The Mikado (later referenced in the episode with Bulldog’s pranks and the lizard).

Some real bullshit that in the complete collection of Fraiser, there's only two episodes with commentary.

The commentary is a solitary sad old German director and at the end he says to whoever is listening that he'd love to be hired to do another film. and, strangely: Twilight, because Rob Pattinson makes fun of the film and himself.

The commentary on Dog Soldiers is excellent. The production team are trying to seriously discuss the movie while the actors are taking the piss out of each other and trying to remember Star Trek trivia.

In the reboot, Frasier has a radio show where he repeatedly owns the strawmaniest libs imaginable. This is 15 minutes of every episode. The rest is the other characters having a 'b' plot where Frasier never appears and they don't talk about him.

Niles gets hairplugs and is appalled when he finds out where the hair is sourced from (poor people). Daphne becomes a hardline Brexiter. Finally free from his father's oppressive working class attachments, Fraiser becomes an even more insufferable prig. He runs a successful podcast coupled with a Patreon and Joe Rogan is his sound guy. He also drives a sports car because MidLife Crisis. He's disowned Fredrick because of the kid's rabid pro-bernie stance. Roz moved on from radio and did docuseries stuff and is now a Netflix exec. Also Kelsey Grammar shouldn't have any drat say in the reboot direction because he thought his solo show should be about a paraplegic media magnate that directed his empire from his bed and his sassy latina maid would teach him the finer things of the working class world (sounds like the perfect recipe for a show cancelled just shy of mid-season after a reworking).
