This is basically the Platonic ideal of what an Underachivers song should be. Like they don't even need to make any more music cause someone else just took their whole thing and basically perfected it.

I felt the same way. Just shows how versatile Denzel is that he can do this style better than the guys doing it for years. I really prefer his chill songs like this as opposed to the bangers. Both are obviously great but I'm not into too much yell/scream flows.

So I finally listened to IGOR for the first time today and then like 6 times more. It’s awesome. I don’t understand how people don’t gently caress it with. Tyler is right that it benefits going from front to back. There are definitely highlights, “I DONT LOVE YOU ANYMORE” is a big one, but the whole picture just rules. Tyler has always been singing about love and the anxieties around it but he really nailed it on this one.

Enjoying Of Mics and Men thus far, although, like any career doc, I wonder how much info has been "massaged". Especially when you have U-God claiming versions of events in his book that Method Man says flat out did not happen. RZA as well (although I get a real manipulative vibe off of him).

I knew RZA and GZA had pre-Wu careers but lol at how loving bad those songs were

Also we need one of those docs about searching for a reclusive figure but the subject is the mysterious guy who said “THATS THAT poo poo” after they freestyled for Steve Rifkind.

Fwiw the Bobby Digital stuff was intended to be more a continuation of his pre-Wu "sound", at least in terms of lyrical content. The first Bobby Digital album was still way ahead of it's time and the best thing Rza's produced. It's not better that the original Wu stuff, but I think it's pretty easily equal to them (at least in production).

I really enjoy the Bobby Digital work from RZA. Actually just picked up Birth of a Prince on vinyl at Record Store Day and its a great album. But I agree that first Bobby Digital album was incredible from a production standpoint and I would love to add that one to my collection some day. Obviously the solo work from Ghostface, Raekwon, ODB, and GZA stands out among the Wu members but I think that is more a product of just how loving good those guys are instead of being a knock on RZA. Especially considering RZA produced a lot of those solo albums.
