oooo. I know why theres no new chat message api yet. its cause chat messages can be html it just shoves onto the page and they probably don't sanitize them

yeah, slack pricing is pretty crazy, it costs 25% more per seat than office 365 essentials, and the latter then includes exchange email (with custom domain) and 1tb of onedrive storage on top of teams.

we were looking at slack until we realized that even admins cant view/join private channels. your only option is to dump chat history and read if you want to make sure that someone didnt sign you up for a gigantic harassment lawsuit

I don't think theres an easy way for admins to view private chats in teams but you can see the content via search and compliance. you can also disable private chats entirely.

the context is that xamarin has a very large percentage of remote employees and a culture that revolves around slack chats. when acquired by microsoft that didn't change, because microsoft now tries to avoid immediately destroying its acquisitions.

a large portion of devdiv doesn't use Teams, and instead functions through large multicolor tagged email chains that will probably result in a meeting and a calendar invite for all CCed.

Drastic Actions posted:teams didn't exist when we were acquired, that happened after. the whitespace between messages for normal chats seems to be fine, but there are quirks like short messages being impossible to copy because theres a menu that appears on hover that obscures the message. teams chats/channels are horrible because they think people want threaded chat which is the dumbest thing in the world.

the worst bit of teams is the activity pane showing every new individual message from every channel (and no new messages from private chats) rather than the same thing of just “here’s your unread chats and channels”

Been going nuts trying to figure out why Mame has been freaking out on my mame cabinet the past few months. No matter what, the first game loads like poo poo. It takes forever for the game to start and it's impossible to kill until a solid two minutes passes. Then after that, mame loads perfectly every time (until I reboot and the poo poo show starts again). Apparently this is a very common issue with windows 10 update 1803. Against my better judgment I updated windows 10 on this thing and the furtherst I've been able to go back is 1809. Is there any way to force this pos os to go back to 17xx? Maybe by manually installing that update or something? It took such a ridiculous amount of time to set this thing up that formatting and reinstalling my 17xx Win 10 disc isn't really a feasible option I already checked and no I did not have system restore turned on. I'll be sure to block updates again after I get back to update 17xx or lower, but I need some help getting there
