I appreciate the detailed feedback!

The time limits are just the ones from the vanilla levels I replaced. Since my levels are about the same length, I figured it would be enough. I should probably have realized that it'd be better to increase it a bit since going through the sublevel takes you back in the level.

I was a bit worried that the star/munchers bit in the last level would be too punishing, yeah. I'm pretty sure every jump is possible even if you stop on a platform. But you're definitely right in that the star runs out too fast in that case.

...I actually pushed the exit back a screen because I thought it was too easy at first. :negative:

What part of the top path was it that gave you trouble? I had actually thought that one would be easier than the water level.

To answer a question in the spoilered quote: I followed the line of diagonal coins to the harder lower path and ran into a dead end when the splitting chuck at the end hopped down and bodied me into the pit. On reflection, if you stick to upper part of the top path, it's not nearly as bad.

Also I should probably write some spoilered thoughts about my own levels, as a kind of postscript. So...

Don't read these until you've played my levels! (I'll edit these into the original post as well)

Level 1: This is in my opinion the "best" of my levels. The path to the second dragon coin is a bit hidden, but if you're paying attention to coin placement, you'll find it easily enough. My favorite bit is the hidden pipe just after the midpoint. You will only see it if you're paying extremely close attention and follow the line of coins going into nothing.

Level 2: Kind of short and really easy. You can climb the vines at the very start to find a somewhat tricky jump to get a feather. If you can take the feather all the way through the level, you can get the 5th dragon coin just before the exit. The key and keyhole is meant to be a hidden entrance to the fortress that makes up the next level.

Level 3: This level feels the most unfocused. I don't really like the starting section in the water, the spike hallway in particular. I actually originally had it one tile shorter in testing, but in practice it was actually impossible to get through without taking a hit. On playing through again, the "jumps over lava" bit feels really easy. None of the jumps are as tricky as anything in the first level, and there's only a couple gaps after the midpoint before you reach the end of the level.

As a little bit of environmental storytelling, the bridges after the midpoint are meant to be over top of other coin vaults, and the only reason you could get into the last one is because something happened to drain the lava out of it. That's why there's a couple tiles of harmless lava in the bottom of it.

I did like the warp pipe hidden offscreen, but if I'm going to complain about something, after exiting the sublevel it's really easy to just get tagged by one of the flying koopas as you land.

I didn't mind the water castle part at all. Getting a feather early on to deal with the bones is nice.

I used to love SMW romhacking as a kid. Nowadays I can't even bother to design a single level in any game engine without getting bored.

I still have a demo of Waluigi's Treasure Hunt that I never submitted to SMW central.
It contains (some) custom graphics, custom blocks, assembly and a few custom enemies which I remember being very proud of.
I submitted at least one of the enemies to SMW central in 2009.

Here's the IPS and the README. It should be playable on ZSNES.

I think the holds up pretty well, but I discovered some obvious flaws when I played through it.
Either I'm too rusty or the hack is too hard, cause I remember playing it without save states back in the day.

Some levels contain "early exits" used during development. I tried to remove them, but then the smc file wouldn't start. Maybe the Lunar Magic version I downloaded is too modern?

Coupled with the fact that you're only allowed to save at ghost houses and castles makes it seem like I just played the levels over and over until i memorized them.

Kremwood Forest kind of sucks, but it's largely concentrated in the two tree levels. The monkeys and barrel shields are used in more difficult ways, and the spider level has never been good. Having numerous spiders that launch you directly into bees that you couldn't possibly see can only make it better, right?

Has anyone told you yet there actually is a way to cheat in all the bonus coins? Put in "WATER" as a cheat input, then go to a specific waterfall near the start and play a Simon Says for 85 bonus coins. Unless the hack messed it up. No need to start a new game, if I recall.

I believe the deal with the music in Condemned Tower is that it and the Mine of Judgment are considered a single area internally, with the music being determined by whether a room is above or below the midpoint of the castle. Normally the tower is entirely above the line and the mine are entirely below the line, but you got the entire area below the line so only the mine music played. I have seen the randomizer place things such that the area straddles the line and the music changes from room to room. I think rooms crossing the line default to the tower music?

Fire Emblem ROM hacks? I know one that'll be interesting...

Fire Emblem Super Thracia 776

What?

This is Super Thracia. It's a difficulty/crossover/kaizo hack of FE5.

What.

That's right. Someone took the hardest, most agonizing, designed-by-crazy-people Fire Emblem game there is, and made it even harder. New maps, characters, weapons, and fun little surprises await you.

If you are not familiar with Thracia 776 and its unique mechanics, this LP by Cake Attack is a recommended starting point. Thracia has a lot of mechanics unique to it already. Besides even more sadistic level design, a few core mechanics were altered:

- The level cap is now 40, but you don't reset your level when you promote, so it's like FE4.
- Most units promote at level 20 with a Knight Crest. You can also find Master Seals, which promote certain units to a third tier class at level 30.
- All stats cap at 40, except for HP which still caps at 80, and Build which caps at 25.
- The weapon triangle gives you 30 accuracy and evasion now instead of 5, which means weapon matchups are far more significant.
- Because of this, many classes that lose access to their primary weapon type when they dismount no longer do.
- Speaking of which, promoted mounted units can move indoors on their mounts just fine, but they lose 2 Movement indoors.
- You always do a minimum of 1 damage, like in FE4.
- Some skills have been altered.

Now you'll have to bear with me on one issue: I have never beaten this. My reason for LPing it is that I have never seen a western player beat this. (Some have, I'm sure) I am pretty much following along with a Japanese walkthrough, but if the game proves to be too much, I'll go as far as I can, but I can't promise a completed run. Thank you for your understanding.

Now since this is a Japanese hack it's impossible for me to read or transcribe any dialogue, so I am left with no choice but to write my own. Let's begin.

It's true that Raven is pretty good right now. On the other hand, there's no guarantee we'll ever get him back, and if we do get his map, he comes in as an unpromoted mage quite late in the game and we may not even be able to get to him before he dies. Eliwood at least comes back reasonably quickly and should be mostly safe to recruit.
