The reason why I have this hunch is because Hyundai("Genesis")/Kia are trying to get into the sport/luxury game. Kia's Stinger GT is a 3.3L twin-turbo V6, Hyundai also uses the same engine for their Genesis models. The current ICS engine specs is a 2.2L twin-turbo V6. Feels like it could be a good fit.

Hyundai is trying with the WRC and TCR programs to build up prestige for the sporty N models, whether they’d consider a non-street-based series (eg IMSA, WEC or Indy) is a good question.
