So Dogs Of Chernobyl states there is evidence of the local dogs that survived the purge having breed with wolves in the area. https://cleanfutures.org/projects/dogs-of-chernobyl/ Interesting read.

Kind of curious about that whole "you have to be public and embarrass everyone to fix this" vs. "the KGB will quietly fix this to avoid embarrassment" conflict.

they did the good thing of not showing any of them really get shot. Show the dog, then show the shooter, hear the gunshot kind of deal.

The writer mentions a scene they cut one of the dogs in the mass grave wasn't dead and they were all out of bullets.

I didn't find it terribly graphic, TBH. The part when they're dumping the carcasses was gross, but it was within reason and we didn't see any animals get headshotted gratuitously. Some have said that they spent too much time on this sub-plot, but the point to me seemed to be that every aspect of the cleanup was weighing down on people and they're forced to take desperate measures to clean it up, whatever the cost. All in all, it's still a horror series, and an amazing one at that. The part where the soldier gets stuck on the roof and peers over the edge even after being told not to nearly had me shivering. Based on the preview, the finale looks like it's going to be incredible with its reconstruction of the accident.

Man. I knew about the pet hunting parties, but I really wish I hadn't had to watch that. e: To elaborate, hearing about and knowing about it doesn't bother me as much, but when they showed the doggo that Pavel shot, it made me sad.
