Ariong posted:I will avenge them. Yes please, thanks. It was only Sunday evening that my partner and I were remarking how lucky we were to have such a pleasant view of local wildlife rearing their young: Then, come monday morning, just an empty nest and a despondent gull Mom looking all "what the gently caress? I was only gone a couple of minutes." Hungry stomachs have no regard for my sentimentality.

Bert Roberge posted:Eurasian coots (Fulica atra) have funny looking expanding webbed feet that help them swim. On the downstroke the webbing expands and on the upstroke it contracts so it makes swimming much more efficient. https://twitter.com/_BTO/status/1139256863244148742

Went to Skansen zoo in Stockholm on Saturday and took some pictures of the peacocks that roam the park not giving a gently caress. Just look at this magnificent birb strutting his stuff in public.

lord funk posted:Dammit you're right. Go play it some Irish whistle music. One of them at my old place loved it. Her husband was underwhelmed by the iPhone concert she dragged him to before nesting season, however. That was the night that fat gently caress (owl husband) broke her favorite perch. I also watched/heard an eastern screech owl curse under its breath when it landed in a branch that turned out to be a twig and the owl kept flapping to try to perch on the twig, which could not support it, while making these tiny little hoot mumbles. Edit: my owl friend liked the fast-paced, high pitched music. https://youtu.be/vFz_ozWHKo0 She also really seemed to like cockatiels singing songs. https://youtu.be/btR9UAWMxHM I think an earlier iteration of this thread might actually have been what attracted her in the first place. Maybe she thought the all the happy cockatiel videos sounded delicious, even if she wasn't much larger than a cockatiel. Bored has a new favorite as of 01:34 on Jun 22, 2019 |
