It's pretty overpriced for what it is, but that seems to be the case with most Japanese tools that get imported by us gunpla shops. As long as you're patient, it's always cheaper to buy straight from Japan. If you look at GSI creos's twitter they usually use that setup for painting demonstrations for kids, which makes a lot more sense.

I mostly don’t mind the decals generally but the ones for the Nissan where 15 years old and from previous experience unobtainable from any source I could find given the age of the kit and the fact they put out a bunch as masterbuilt models. This is actually my second attempt at this particular kit because I hosed the decals royally on the first attempt 10 years ago and had no idea about decal softeners or setters. I’ve built one non race car and kinda found it boring so I think race cars are my future. My next kit is a jagermeister sponsored 934 rsr Porsche once again done with brushes and a can of tamiya spray in the correct color.

Nah, gently caress Nazis. I totally stole the checkering idea from this Finnish Bf109 decked out in racing stripes, 'cause it looks sharp as all get out. I can only assume that hand-masking the entire fuselage was still easier than putting on that decal.  I've done the unthinkable and cleared out a substantial portion of my backlog. Anyone have any recommendations for outstanding kits of any stripe?

If you want something a bit different, the nicest kit I've ever made was one of Hasegawa's construction vehicles. I made one of the rollers but it looks like they're all really good quality. Fun to go hog wild with the weathering, too.

Those Hasegawa construction kits do look pretty neat. Not to call you out, but I hated my X-wing and I think it was the worst Bandai kit I've ever put together. Bad fit, crappy decals, too many parts for not enough benefit. The rest of their Star Wars stuff and their robots are great, though. Did you get the Rogue One X-wing or the Episode IV version, out of curiosity? Mine was the former.

I’ve got a fair few of the Bandai kits, haven’t had a problem yet (do they suffer after first run or something like that?) Everyone should do the y-wing because it is nice and small and all the tiny pipes and greeblies make for a pretty kit. Recently got back from Japan and bought too many kits  Also, the box the perfect grade falcon comes in is nearly as big as a suitcase, just in case you need to know!

I generally just model star wars or allied/cold war subjects but I think modelling a captured scheme is a good way to experience a consensus good kit like the new tamiya BF-109s while avoiding modelling a nazi subject.

If you're the dude just building a bunch of things with swastikas on them then it's going to be pretty obvious. If you're the dude building a wide range of subjects to a level of accuracy where everything has correct markings it's also going to be pretty obvious. You know which one you are.

I mean its a perfectly serviceable line of paint; I just kinda expected it to act more like Tamiya/Mr Color based on AK advertising how compatible it was with lacquer thinners.
