Mark Waid isn't a slimeball editorial yesman so I don't think they'd want that.

I'm psyched for Millennium stuff since I'm guessing he's lining up all the future properties so that there'll be a range of titles for other authors, and that sort of thing has works well so far. I want a straight up Swamp Thing series for Ivy to see if someone could make that work.

also, it sure sounds like JSA and Legion are returning without having anything to do with what's been going on in Doomsday Clock, in case anyone expected that to have a real impact on the broader DC line outside whatever small handful of Doomsday Clock Aftermath or whatever projects end up happening

As long as he doesn’t draw it he seems able to produce books on a monthly schedule. But uh. Without him drawing it, not sure why you’d attach Liefeld to a project.

He and Bob Harras are still friends.
|
# ? Jun 14, 2019 04:49 |

Yeah, the fact that Bob Harras (and Jim Lee) were important players in early 1990s Marvel and current DC explains a whole lot about the continued employment of so many people, from Scott Lobdell to Brett Booth and a lot of decent-to-mediocre people in between. Hank Kanalz ("Senior Vice President of Vertigo and Integrated Publishing") is a dude who has been around forever and edited/scripted the earliest issues of Youngblood before going over to Wildstorm and getting absorbed into DC proper, which is actually Harras's career path too (Jim Lee hired him as some sort of editor/executive after he got sacked at Marvel circa 2000). Bobbie Chase (Marvel editor throughout the early 1990s who came up as Harras's assistant) and Pat McCallum (longtime Wizard editor-in-chief) also are also VPs at DC. The dream of the 90s is alive in Burbank, and back during the New 52 Liefeld bounced around writing and/or drawing Hawk & Dove, Deathstroke and Hawkman for a couple of years. Everyone is correct in saying that he hasn't done anything for DC in over five years though. And they eventually stopped returning his calls, it would seem.

Hawkman is one of the greatest unsung gems of DC Comics right now. Venditti keeps pulling off impossible feats with this book. I really wish inspirational writers like him and Snyder were the ones constantly getting the attention instead of your usual...not thems.

Are people just finally, genuinely, tired of his constant lateness that even being One of the Nicest Guys in Comics can't help? I almost never thought I'd see it. This must be why he turned to Kickstarter where he's apparently having trouble as well.
