The Imperator Nicolai Veliki is, as others have carefully avoided saying, a masterpiece.

Imperator Nicolai Veliki Finally, a design I can get behind, 21 5" guns makes this a thing of beauty. this message paid for by the Society for the Proliferation of Five Inch Guns. - Figs for everyone.

quote:Current states quote:I propose the Making Do With What We Have act, which stipulates that rather than building new ships, we will instead upgrade our existing battleships and armored cruisers with central firing as the budget allows. So I am to not build any more ships – Except Parliament was enraged that I denied the Tsar his luxury yacht, and have demanded I build..... THIS. The design alone will cost six million, which I will have to save for... January 1905 We get a look at the first Battlecruiser – she's a jumped up armoured cruisers, and more of a glass cannon than anything else. But a 14” glass cannon. The Blyat finally joins us, and we get better damage control. February 1905 The Germans are building something called a Worth Class. She is supposedly the next thing in warships. March 1905 Just some research updates this month. April 1905 We gain armour piercing capacity this month. May1905 I've been ordered to make do, so I have to turn the new Naval Secretary down. The British continue to fix the deficit in guns of their ships. June1905 A couple of armoured cruisers are laid down. I commission the design study for the Imperator Nicolai Veliki. July1905 Now this I can get behind. The British also increase spending. August 1905 Parliament have made their thoughts on Japan clear. No alliance on my watch. September 1905 I'm not going against the Tsars wishes this time. Turrets get lighter. Torpedoes get faster. Northern Europe bristles with guns. October 1905 The public have raised funds for a battleship. Another weight saving device is discovered. The construction of the Tsar yacht begins. The public are told this is a battlecruiser, and they are appeased that this is what they paid for. I use the opportunity to rebuild our battleships. Most are overweight, but adding a few more tons is not going to hurt them. Four months will see our fleet reborn. November 1905 We must keep on the good side of Britain. The French have started constructing a modern battleship. December 1905 Hands off my budget! Once again, Britain increases spending. And we close off another year. Tensions are rising, but manageable for now. Thanks to the public, we now have money. The first of the Grom class will finish next year. Research continues to pay dividends.

Torps Away Given the increasing importance of torpedos in our doctrine as the mainstay of ways to finish off enemy ships, I propose that a fleet training emphasis on use of torpedoes be instilled to help all crews improve in the handling of them in the case of further hostilities. I believe (at least in RTW 1) you could emphasize specific types of training at extra cost for ships. If so, propose setting it on torpedoes nwo that we have a small surplus.

I love the idea that when the public heard about the designs of the Nicolai Veliki they were like "oh yeah we DEFINITELY need to build one of those- here's half the money you need."

May I propose the PUT YOUR TOYS AWAY act? – Upon the cessation of all/any hostilities moving forward for future conflicts, our dearest Commander in Chef will automatically either mothball or put into a reserve a portion of the fleet that he deems appropriate to allow us to maximize cost savings for further development of the fleet during times of peace unless explicitly directed by our assembled privy Council.

Given that the safety of the Tsar is paramount, and the expense in building his yacht, I propose the " Protection of the Tsar act, which states, first, that the Tsar's yacht shall be escorted at all times by destroyers, and second, that it shall never be used in battle, and if it finds itself in the vicinity of enemy ships, it and its escort shall withdraw forthwith.

You guys know that never mothballing the yacht means it will always be available for battle. So you either mean for it to be in constant harms way (funny) or you need to amend it so its only mothballed when we are at war. I'm going to be 3d modelling this monstrosity, aren't I.

No way, the Tsar's Yacht has to be made the Flagship of the entire navy, and lead the way in times of conflict! Like how Captain Picard conplained the entirety of TNG about having families and recreation facilities on the Enterprise

I've actually got plans for a Grand Tour act for the yacht once it's completed, where the Tsar will go a-globetrotting... It will be something special when the ship gets impounded overseas because a war broke out.

Why would we give the Tsar 6 fine 13 inch naval hunting rifles if not to defend his beloved people and hunt the actual most dangerous game: Battleships? He can mount their ship's wheels back at the palace as trophies!

I tried looking online and couldnt find them, but what are the system requirements like for this game? I know the graphics are trying to give Amiga a run for their money but sometimes the groggiest game can run like rear end. A friend of mine is interested but I know he has an old POS pc.

Things can sometimes slow down if it's a 60 ship fleet battle but I have to imagine any PC made in the last 20 years should be able to run it.

Just how fiddly is this game? I dont think I could ever see myself playing something like WITP that requires intense micromanagement (if you plan on keeping the Royal Navy alive for example). This game does not look nearly that overcomplicated.

This game does not look nearly that overcomplicated. It's not big on micromanagement (and at game start you can even choose to shrink everyone's navy proportionately so you aren't dealing with hundreds of ships). It's grognardy reputation is almost entirely in the ship design, where you could spend a half hour fiddling with numbers or looking up what things like narrow armor belts and cross deck fire mean.
