Where is that at? I have been trying to find what to do for awhile. My one complaint is it is god awful at telling you what to do and the map could really use some markers telling where the landmarks are.

If you've defeated Bloodless (Blood Bath Lady), go back to that big fountain of blood near the entrance to the castle and use her ability there, then go through the caverns and they'll be there in the water at the dead ends.

Game plays like what if Konami decided to make another budget castlevania game, but put enough of a budget in to make the transition to 3d models and welp turns out thats good enough for me.

For real. Hey indie-vania folks - this is how you make this style of game
Study it. Replicate it.
It doesn't seem that hard but I mean it took 4 years and millions of dollars so there's clearly a lot of secret sauce at work here
I get that Iga games aren't for everyone but man there is nothing quite like the real thing

This game owns I'm so excited to get home and play it more. I wasn't sure about the art direction but it all comes together great. I bought the silly electric laser sword and it's fun. Maybe I'll buy the game on Switch too and play an alt gun build. gently caress it feels good to play a genuine Castlevania.

okay, to anyone who just got the doublejump and is stuck as to where to go:

after you beat the twin dragons boss you get the silver bromide in a chest at the bottom of the tower which you need to get your picture taken at the shop. it turns out this is used for making a passcard to get to the train that's located at the bottom of the twin dragon bossfight arena. the leap of logic here is that you have to go talk to the librarian in livre ex machina who will turn the photo into said passcard.

it could honestly stand to be a bit less obtuse in a sense, because i don't have much reason to go visit the librarian often and don't have a reason to assume he'd magically know how to get past the barrier.

One question to offset my anxiety: they keep talking about having too many shards will corrupt me, and selling them to avoid that. Is there some sort of "you're locked into the bad ending now" threshold I need to worry about?

I am not far in but I'm more expecting some kind of shard related illness/condition. Could be a buff or something. Much like real life, doing too much of the shard can't be good.

I'm expecting there's be some menu stat or similar that will let you know what the shard things are doing and you can sell them if you feel like its too much. A lot of the abilities aren't my cup of tea so I might just use what I like and sell the rest to minimise shard effect if that is even a real thing.

I find the games lack of visual polish fascinating. We are in an era where games will crimp on gameplay and features to spend more time on looking pretty but this game is really solid and well made and just sort of comfortable with looking unrefined.

A little bit more visual tell on the hitboxes would be nice though - I died to the first boss the first time and had to use two potions the second because I couldn't tell when the tentacles could and couldn't hurt me, which combined with the lack of way to interrupt your animations like in the old games (afaict) leads to you taking four hits for most of your health because they hit you, then the water, then the squids, then the boss's hitbox.

Got it on the third try with the whip though - the starting claymore sucks a bit on top of it all :v:

That's how it should be. It's nice to have both but if you have to priotize one I will buy a hundred games that look like they're a console generation behind before I'll pay for a game that looks gorgeous but is boring as hell.

They just put a patch on PS4 that adds some features along with tweaking the graphics across the board, but I'm running into chests in new areas that are already opened, so I'm probably missing out on important recipes and such.

Though it says a lot about how much I'm enjoying the game that it's not resetting my run after 10 hours that's deflating my enthusiasm, it's the fact that I should probably just wait and not play anymore until the week 1 patches are all done with in case this happens again.

very good and fun game. only gripe is it feels - unpolished a very slight smidge? like there's occasionally rough transitions during cutscenes that just feel very jarring, that sort of thing. but the gameplay is amazing enough to outweigh that by far.

claymore/2h swords in general wound up being a lot funner when i realized you can cancel the end lag if you backdash before it hits the ground, including doing stuff like a quick hop into attack into backdash immediately after the sword connects.

My first SotN black label copy I bought when I worked at CompUSA. It was the last copy in the store and it had fallen down to the back of our game display and forgotten about. I had never heard of a PS1 version of the game and I liked Castlevania so I just bought it at store cost. God drat I was blown away.

My second black label copy I traded a bunch of virtual pixels in EverQuest for a big box of video games a dude had.

I own several more copies in various states of collectability and display but those two were my most remembered ones.

Some people are so, so, SO mad in the Kickstarter comments, about the US PS4 backer keys. I see so many people claiming 505 obviously put the request in too late. But wouldn't it be more likely Sony cocked it up (again) if basically everyone else got the keys in at the right time?

It looks pretty great now that I'm playing it and can see effects and animations but I went in relatively blind and only saw screenshots here and there and the 2.5d style kind of looks like crap when it's not in motion

edit: yeah what Over There said . a lot of the strength of the 3D models comes from their animations and it'll never look as pretty as nice pixel art in still shots

People are entitled rear end in a top hat and I'm a guy who backed at $125 for PS4 digital and Switch physical, so double delays.

It absolutely is Sony's (US) fault cause loving EVERYONE ELSE got their codes to 505 on time (well everyone but Nintendo lol).
