When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.
I really wish someone other than the Ringer was dedicated to doing draft podcasts on a regular interval.

I like Game Theory a lot even though I disagree with Sam on a bunch of prospects this year. The Stepien podcast also has good analysis but the audio quality sucks and the hosts are pretty boring.

It was probably the first hockey game I’ve watched in like three years. Pretty disappointing affair tbh, especially with the reputation of hockey playoff insanity. I did gain new respect for play-by-play men calling it though.

Game 7s are fun but game 7s as a cup final are usually slogs because both teams are just absolutely exhausted by that point. Boston was at least coming in off an eastern conference finals sweep, but had some really heavy series with Columbus and Toronto before that, and all of St. Louis's series went 6 or 7 games.

Today, in "The Mic Is Always Hot", well sort of.

Corvette crashed hard in Le Mans.
Radio Le Mans: "We have the team radio, G-rated of course"
Corvette Racing: "you ok?"
Driver: "That was a hard one, gently caress"
RLM: "sorry about that!"

So I get that there's always going to be broadcasters wagging their finger at Kids These Days doing terrible things like "showing emotion" and "having fun", especially in baseball

but of all the people to do that, Dennis fuckin Eckersley?

I feel like there's context missing because Eck is pretty much always in favor of players putting on a show. Heck he was saying Christian Vazquez should've done a bigger bat flip on the game winning home run friday

The thing is, they probably think they can fix [Tyreek Hill], but they thought they could fix him before and they failed. Andy Reid does not have a great record of fixing players. He doesn’t. Discipline is not his thing. It did not work out particularly well in his family life, and that needs to be added to this, as we’re talking about the Chiefs. He wasn’t real great at that either. He’s had a lot of things go bad on him, family and players. He is not good at fixing people, he is not good at discipline. That is not his strength. His strength is designing football plays.

In "double-check your work" news, Andrew Bucholtz said the Spanish-language coverage of USWNT-Spain (combined Telemundo and NBCSN) had three times higher the ratings than FS1's coverage before figuring out he was only looking at the streaming numbers for Fox Sports. In reality, FS1 drew FOUR times higher than the Spanish-language coverage. Oops!

It's good to hear he's in good health and that's not what this is about. I hope he does something next where he can do some really good in-depth investigation stories or full length documentaries, free from the constrains of a network who is in bed with most of the professional and college sports leagues. He was one of the only true journalists left at ESPN (if not THE only).

Yeah, re-reading that, it seems like he's at least leaving his options open for the future and I'd love to see him do his own sort of "Real Sports" or something similar. I wouldn't blame him one bit if he just quietly went off into the sunset though.
