According to Driven Car Reviews on YouTube, Ford has an embargo on Explorer ST driving impressions right now for some reason.

edit: ST embargo drops on Thursday it seems.

This is probably some clickbait nonsense, but there's a rumor Toyota / Lexus will use Mazda's RWD inline 6 🤣

I don't lend a lot of credence to it but that would be funny, and awesome.

Like $15k less, the Jeep, and the Durango SRT8, are both up on power and faster in a straight line but a lot heavier so they probably(?) don't handle as well, and are more expensive.

Interesting that Toyota wouldn't just get the straight-6 from BMW, if the article isn't BS of course. On the other hand since Mazda is developing the new platform and engine, they'd definitely want to share it. Hopefully the new 6 fits in the miata.

Jack B Nimble posted:

A VERY rough rule of thumb is that a downhill regen is roughly 50% efficient, in terms of road miles traveled to miles or rated range charged. So say you go two miles downhill regen, you'd put about a mile of range back in the battery.

Again, VERY rough.

Keep in mind i'm tired and dumb and this is probably wrong, but

The Bolt and Leaf regen at about 0.20g on flat land, that's about 1.96s/s2, 350kg, say a 1km long hill with a slope to max regen without using friction brakes, around 193.5 WH per run. 430MPGe city epa rating, 33.7kwh/gallon determined by the EPA that's 12.76 miles per KWH city, so every time you haul it to the top of the hill and ride down at max regen you should get around 2.46 miles.

Ignoring friction because it's hard, You would need an 11.6 degree slope to get 1.96m/s2 that's a 20.53% grade.

This is an 18% grade.

Ok, so not how you should plan to get around but genuinely viable if you're in your own city. I might push a bike up a hill a few times rather than towing.
