Plom Bar posted:"the possibility of Hauntswitch" is by far the most pessimistic language they've ever used in relation to this project Man, I dunno. I should probably trust you because you've been paying better attention to the goings on than me, but after the epilogues I feel like the chances of Hauntswitch coming out as something are pretty darn high. Maybe not as a game, but a comic or a novel or something.

I mean, probably the story will get told somehow, like you said, but after all the work to get just acts 1 and 2 out the door, I can see why they don't currently want to commit to acts 5, 6, 7, and 8 in video game form.

I'm honestly surprised they're going forward with episodes 2-4. 1 wasn't even remotely profitable, was it?

Clawtopsy posted:Mr huss' wild ride took us to the top of a loop and has suddenly stopped and its been a few hours and the lights are off and we are starting to suspect the ride operators have gone home In other words we're right back to where we were when Homestuck ended the first time. Like, this is literally the exact same spot we got stuck at all those years ago...why didn't we jump when we had the chance? Why aren't we jumping now? But yeah, to me personally the epilogues didn't feel like an ending. They felt more like the beginning of something interesting. However, there's no guarantee that's what they actually are though. Like, there's things that are missing and more questions that have been raised than answered and things that may or may not be clues hinting at stuff to come, but for all we know all that crap means jack poo poo as it so frequently has in the past. The safest bet at this point is to wait a year until next April 13th, and if nothing else is released then yeah that really was the end shows over folks gently caress off.

The team at What Pumpkin has stated they're working on something that is not related to Hiveswap or the potential Hauntswitch. That said, anyone holding their breath for a continuation of the epilogues ought to invest in some scuba gear. I personally don't think it's coming, and given that they were always described as being of "dubious canonicity", I think it's safe to say they just kind of exist in the same space as Paradox Space. Is it canon? Sure, if you want it to be.

Plom Bar posted:The team at What Pumpkin has stated they're working on something that is not related to Hiveswap or the potential Hauntswitch. You're almost certainly right, but I'm feeling dumb and lucky: wanna make a bet? If the epilogue has some sort of continuation by April 13, 2020 I win. If not, you win. The loser must either prepare a meat and candy omelet, watch and review a movie referenced in Homestuck of the winners choice (I'm picking Little Monsters, I can tell you that right up front), or do some third ridiculous thing you come up with I dunno. So, how about it? Do you agree to the terms of this wager in which you have very nothing to gain whatsoever and only dignity to lose!?

Plom Bar posted:The team at What Pumpkin has stated they're working on something that is not related to Hiveswap or the potential Hauntswitch. I think the giant cliffhanger at the end of the Epilogues means something else is coming (or planned to be coming) at some time. That's as far as I'll go. Also, I think I can make a case that Davepetasprite is Ultimate Dave. Not only do they go off and complete Dave's mission, but IIRC they seem to be moderately aware of other timelines. Terezi is already Ultimate Terezi.

Like, if I recall, Problem Sleuth also had an underwhelming ending. Not Homestuck-grade, but it still required an epilogue, and it was nice and wrapped up everything. I don’t know why Hussie doesn’t just move on to other things instead of limping Homestuck along with Not Epilogues and poorly managed video games. Is the money from For Fans By Unpaid Labor just that good even in 2019?
