FuturePastNow posted:If any of you are still playing GTAO, go check out the casino. The "Opening Soon" banner is gone and there are now construction props arranged around the entrance. Those props will change again on the 13th and 20th, presumably leading to a new DLC on the 27th. I hope people like gambling. 5 mil buy in, a new type of crate to run and a mission where you have to set some math student's car on fire because he was counting cards at the blackjack table. all the promo missions for the nightclub dlc recycled. a cutscene where roman from gtaIV shows you around the casino but then he says something like "it's got everything you could need.. .except for a bowling alley heheh" and then turns to the camera and winks. the casino will have a secret underground lab upgrade where you can pay one million funbux to make everyone on the map explode. the lab will also let you build the GHOAST ANNHILATOR which is a tiny flying bike that can attack from passive mode and missile lock onto player crates from outside the map. don't worry if you die while riding the GHOAST ANNIHILATOR as you'll spawn riding another. but get this... you'll spawn BEFORE you died. meaning you'll eventually overwhelm even the most skilled players by outnumbering them 50 to 1. console players will buy 600 billion dollars worth of shark cards.

Frankly if they actually let you gamble for money and also sell shark cards for money there could be legal trouble, so I expect the gambling to be entirely pointless and all of the content to be more of the same.

What else would you gamble on if not in-game money or something purchasable with in-game money?

SolidSnakesBandana posted:What else would you gamble on if not in-game money or something purchasable with in-game money? "Chips" or something that let you buy special hats, maybe a special car or something. Or maybe just an alternate currency to buy the same things, that would probably be distinct enough to avoid legal trouble. I could be wrong, I'm not a lawyer, but the US is pretty hard on anything that even resembles online gambling for real money and other games have run afoul of this and had to change stuff.

This. You can't actually gamble in the casino, only manage the day-to-day operations if you own it and admire all of the pretty lights and sounds if you don't.

unfortunately GTA online has no distinction between regular cash and shark card cash. so the long awaited casino update will add a new currency called "gems" which can be collected around the city by flying through checkpoints on the new GHOAST ANNIHILATOR bike. but watch out for the wumpus! if he catches you all your gems will be converted into worthless lemons.

Although they're displayed as one big money pool, R* can definitely distinguish between GTAbucks and Sharkbucks.

All guesses. I don't watch the youtubes of other people guessing cuz theyre usually dumber than hair, so if any of these are legit its lucky. It sure seems like a big one with the extra time spent, the ingame construction teasers, and video teasers about the trailers Living space will be like a high roller suite, thinking like the yacht quarters with the bar and multiple rooms. Don't see much for garages or mechanics, I just can't work out how that would tie to a casino other than car storage, maybe some limos or new limo/executive vehicles? Will this be the update to consolidate CEO and MC under one banner? Probably not unless they really go hard with the high roller executive role playing. I can see it being micromanaging stuff like the nightclub popularity. MAYBE something with the race track since its property adjacent? Gambling. Hoo boy this is a whole can of worms here. There is no out of band market for item selling, like hats or guns or skins. I really really really hope there's not a 2nd tier currency introduced. I honestly can't see one being introduced at this late stage of the game, so thats my hope. There's also no cash out to turn in game GTA funbux to real currency. I don't see a full blown casino simulator with poker and dice. Thinking more along the lines of an activity like darts or armwrestling where you can play blackjack with your homies for relatively small stakes, $1000 a hand or something. More likely something like the Arena club wheel where it's $1000/$5000 a spin for a chance to win RP or cash or exclusive clothes I actually would love something like the lovely casino in Vegas Vacation where they play War and Pick a Number, Guess Which Hand, but thats stupid enough to be too stupid lol If poker exists in RDR then I'd expect at least a little nod to that, maybe another cross-game promo to unlock something in RDR I would also anticipate some new heists or at least mutli-part contact missions, dipping into the Oceans 11 style over-planning. Casinos usually mean money, so maybe a return of armored car freeroam missions? Bounty hunting for people that "beat the house"? New music? A casino would be an ideal venue for some house bands, like the NC dj's New clothes? Probably some suits/dresses for fancy dressing I think some of the new bar mechanics are pretty neat(different drinks at the bar, in-office bar and pouring shots, champagne, macbeth) and these translate to a casino setting pretty well so hopefully more of those

I just found out about the Casino and, between that and the 3x on Hotring (which I found fun and the bonus will encourage people to play it) and the fact there's still not poo poo to do in RDRO, here I come, GTA.

How problematic will gambling be in the casino update? I recall other open world online games that had casinos and no one really made a stink about it. Is it purely due to the fact that real money can be used to buy cash in game?

Here's my idea - Casino Crates(TM)!!! You acquire a casino warehouse for your criminal enterprise, and there you buy a crate through securoserv for a set price and RNG decides whether you get a bad crate or a jackpot crate! I for one can't wait for this wholesome and compelling gameplay in daddy rockstar's next exciting GTA:O update!!!!!

Because I heard the Oppressor MK-3 is coming out with infinite missiles and a force field for armor, it would be crazy if we were forced to use said van in a public session.

I was thinking about making the jump to of GTA online since it's on sale right now on Steam. Are there any working mod menus still, or am I better off just grinding everything from scratch?

Yeah I played a few hours last week and two different sessions had modders dropping cash and spamming text ads for the menu they were using

I could be wrong, usually am, but I keep expecting them to add a stealth fighter. The Akula set the precedent for stealth and the Lazer's 6.5m pricetag lets them justify charging more. Plus it's clear R* doesn't give a gently caress about game balance.
