Proud Christian Mom posted:the trucking industry would collapse overnight if unqualified people weren't allowed to drive. Especially right now, the job market is tighter then Trump's face after a hot shot of botox. We're scrambling right now at work because one of our couriers can't do the Minneapolis-Fargo-Minot-Watford City-Williston run anymore. Why? Because the only driver of theirs willing to make the run quit on three days notice. If you can pass a breathalyzer at the moment of hiring with a valid CDL, you can get hired on the spot.

Allegedly the proper paperwork wasn't filed, so it would've had to be manually noticed by the DMV who of course didn't.

Apparently teachers assistants in NC are being required to get their CDLs so can also be bus drivers for the schools they’re working on, so at least once those people finish their training and realize that public schools are going to be hiring fewer and fewer teachers over their career they can hop over into trucking instead of education

mlmp08 posted:Well that little bit of bureaucratic failure seems pretty important now. It's possibly NOT a bureaucratic failure, it's very possibly a result of a hearing before a judge or attorney acting as a judge for the DMV. In all states, when people refuse a chemical breath test, it's an automatic revocation of their license. It's called implied consent. By having a license, which is a privilege, you are giving your future consent to submit to chemical breath tests when asked by police officers. When you refuse, you lose the license. But within a month, usually within a week or two, you will have a hearing (not a trial, just a hearing) involving you, your lawyer, the police officer, and a judge (or an attorney acting as one). If the police officer fails to present his case sufficiently, then the person can get their license back under some circumstances. Usually for 1st offenses, the person gets their license back on a conditional basis, where they can only drive to and from work, and if they are caught driving somewhere/when else, they can be arrested and the license is revoked for real. So it's quite possible he got the license back on a conditional basis, or even got it back completely pending his actual trial. Edit: should have read the article. That was a MAJOR bureaucratic gently caress up, holy poo poo. The above info would still stand in most states though, so I'll leave it up for people's info and a testament to why you should read an article before poop-posting about it. The laws of supply and demand dictate that as demand increases and labor supply decreases, labor costs would exponentially increase. This has not happened. The free market economic model is dead.
