The consoles, warp cores, and other personal items can be purchased from another fleet's store with your own fleet's provisions. In fact, everything with the exception of fleet ships is available. If you aren't in any fleet at all then you'd have to join one to buy stuff.

we're all mad here

Caught an episode of TNG while I was traveling for work this week and got the itch to play again. However, my hard drive died between the last time I played and now, taking my notes on what I was doing with my character with it. So, questions:

1. Is the Presidio build on the goon wiki still viable or has it since been nerfed/power-crept into oblivion? I'm only level 25, but like having an end goal to aim for. I think I was going for a Scimitar/Khopesh last time. Are they terrible now?

2. Same question about our wiki, but for the PC leveling skills and away team composition.

3. I vaguely remember I was trying to train a given R&D skill to 5 before starting another, but can't figure out why I would have wanted to do so; the only breakpoint the non-goon wiki mentions is at 15. Is there a useful craftable thing you get at 5?

You probably want to focus on cannons and scatter volley if you want to follow the meta. Beam boat cruisers still work and the Presidio will do the job if you want to fly it though.

Skills are still pretty much the same.

R&D schools ranked at 5 let you craft specific components but none of them are in super high demand anymore because the upgrades you get from the Phoenix box events are way better bang for your buck than anything you can craft. R&D schools DO give you access to personal space and ground traits at level 15 which you can view here.

The only real rule of flying a ship is: do you have a Lt. Commander tactical slot so you can slot Attack Pattern Omega 1? (The Presidio does) If the answer is no, fly another ship.

On a brand new character, a lot of the R&D project slots are locked off. I believe hitting 5 unlocks one of the slots, but I can't remember for sure. If you look at the grayed out slots on your character, they should tell you what you need to do to unlock them.

The Khopesh is still good, but like BFF said you'll probably want to run a cannon build on it. I think all the ship-specific builds in the wiki are extremely out of date, but that doesn't mean they won't work for missions and regular STFs. If you have matching weapons, matching tac consoles, useful boff skills, and a spacebar macro, you have enough to destroy any normal PVE content.

Also, they went and made all T6 ships scaling now. So you can grab the Presidio or Khopesh and start using it on your level 25 character, it'll just have a few item slots locked.

Kael hosed up and posted the stats for the Fleet Risian Escort T6:

If you're new to the game, play the summer event, get a rep to T6, and score a ship that can do anything and do it with style.

MikeJF

They gave up and posted the page, but I can't access it now? From the bot that copies it on reddit:

quote:

*Risian corvette [T6] *

The Risian corvette was initially designed as a racing ship for entertainment purposes. The ship's incredible speed and maneuverability drew the interest of the Lobi Crystal Consortium, who purchased the rights to manufacture armed versions of the vessel. Now, after years of study and work, some of the galaxy’s finest Ferengi designers have released an updated version with a unique weapon, more bridge capabilities, and faster speed than any other ship in the known galaxy!

This starship features a Lieutenant Commander Universal/Pilot Bridge Officer Seat.

Ship Details:

  • Tier: 6
  • Faction: Any
  • Required Rank: Must complete the Tutorial
  • Hull Modifier: .9
  • Shield Modifier: .9
  • Fore Weapons: 4 (scales with level)
  • Aft Weapons: 3 (scales with level)

  • +5 Power to Weapons, +15 Power to Engines

  • Starship Mastery Package (Escort)

    • Precise Weapon Systems (+Accuracy)
    • Tactical Maneuvering (+Defense)
    • Enhanced Weapon Systems (+All Damage)
    • Devastating Weaponry (+Crit Chance)
    • Rhythmic Rumble (Starship Trait)

Admiralty Ship Details:

  • ENG: 42
  • SCI: 28
  • TAC: 56
  • SPECIAL: +10 TAC per TacShip

*Console - Universal - Enhanced Subspace Wake Generator *

The Risian corvette [T6] comes equipped with an Enhanced Subspace Wake Generator console.

When activated, your starship impulse engines go into overdrive, causing a subspace wake nearby that damages and slows nearby foes, while also improving your own mobility.

This console also provides a passive boost to Flight Speed and Maximum Engine Power. This Console can be equipped in any console slot. It may be equipped on any ship. You may only equip one of these consoles.

Experimental Weapon - Solition Wave Impeller

The Risian corvette [T6] also comes equipped with a Soliton Wave Impeller experimental weapon. The Soliton Wave Impeller channels soliton radiation waves at the target. In addition to damaging and slowing the target, it has a chance of causing radiation damage over time as well. Its unique tie-in with your impulse engines increases its firing rate as your engine power increases.

It may be upgraded like a standard weapon, swapped out for another Experimental Weapon and placed in any other starship's Experimental Weapon Slot.

Rhythmic Rumble (Starship Trait)

After achieving level 5 in the Risian corvette [T6], you will unlock the Rhythmic Rumble Starship Trait. While this trait is slotted, activating any Auxiliary power to the Inertial Dampeners or any Pilot Bridge Officer Ability grants you a boost to Damage Resistance Rating and Weapon Power Cost based on your speed.

*Risian Pilot corvette [T6] *

The Risian corvette was a gratifying success for the Lobi Design Group, but the team lead realized that there would be a need for even higher speed and performance. The scent of profit was on the wind, and the team went back to the drawing board. After months of intense testing, racing, and a few unfortunate high-speed incidents, the Ferengi designers have released a version of the corvette with a complete focus on speed and maneuverability – the Risian Pilot corvette!

Pilot ships are highly agile craft designed to perform advanced maneuvers that can give them a deadly edge in combat. Your starship can perform a sudden maneuver in each horizontal direction: Forward, Backward, Left or Right. Executing each maneuver will rapidly reposition your starship while granting very brief damage immunity, but costs all available thruster fuel which takes several seconds to recover.

This starship features a Commander Tactical/Pilot Bridge Officer Seat and a Lieutenant Tactical/Pilot Bridge Officer Seat.

Ship Details:

  • Tier: 6
  • Faction: Any
  • Fleet Holding Required: Tier 1 Starbase
  • Required Rank: Must complete the Tutorial
  • Hull Modifier: .99
  • Shield Modifier: .99
  • Fore Weapons: 4 (scales with level)
  • Aft Weapons: 3 (scales with level)
  • Device Slots: 2
  • Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Commander Tactical/Pilot, 1 Lieutenant Tactical/Pilot, 1 Lieutenant Commander Engineering, 1 Ensign Science, 1 Lieutenant Commander Universal
  • Console Modifications: 4 Tactical, 4 Engineering, 3 Science (scales with level)
  • Base Turn Rate: 21 degrees per second
  • Impulse Modifier: 0.27
  • Inertia: 90
  • +5 Power to Weapons, +15 Power to Engines
  • Can Load Dual Cannons
  • Pilot Maneuvers
  • Experimental Weapon Slot
  • Starship Mastery Package (Escort)

    • Precise Weapon Systems (+Accuracy)
    • Tactical Maneuvering (+Defense)
    • Enhanced Weapon Systems (+All Damage)
    • Devastating Weaponry (+Crit Chance)

Admiralty Ship Details:

  • ENG: 39
  • SCI: 28
  • TAC: 59
  • SPECIAL: +15 TAC per TacShip

NOTE:_ The above stats and systems are subject to change._

The free version seems gratifyingly non-gimped.

Good grief, impulse modifier 0.27. Even the original vette was 0.25. This thing is crazy fast. "This console also provides a passive boost to Flight Speed and Maximum Engine Power." oh even faster.

"After achieving level 5 in the Risian corvette [T6], you will unlock the Rhythmic Rumble Starship Trait. While this trait is slotted, activating any Auxiliary power to the Inertial Dampeners or any Pilot Bridge Officer Ability grants you a boost to Damage Resistance Rating and Weapon Power Cost based on your speed." Weps cost? Not bad.

So hey, we're doing a Riposte run for MoonSlayer's LP of STO at 8pm CST tonight, and due to some drop-outs, we need some Disco ships.

We're got a Crossfield, Walker, and Europoop/Nimitz, and would need two more uniques if possible.

If not tonight, the backup plan is 3pm CST tomorrow/Sunday.

I can't be too upset. Cryptic was looking for a way to drain dilithium from the economy, and buying tokens to sell/trade to your friends (and not the exchange) seems like a good way to not tank the value of Zen while also taking it out of the market. Though, if I'm not mistaken, that just makes those who buy Zen with money and sell it for dilithium even more swamped in dilithium, unless they donate it to fleet projects or something.

Nothing ever will because everything you spend it on is a one-time fixed cost.

You don't need to spend dilithium daily to fuel your ship, open mission reward chests, change uniforms, warp to missions, fast travel or... no wait, actually lets just implement all of that.

Claim it's for "immersion". And to stop the howling make the uniform tailor NPC work on GPL instead of dilithium "in the spirit of DS9" or something.

Sure there is plenty of stuff to spend dilithium on. More than any normal MMO player would ever care to. But this is Star Trek Online which has survived multiple events that would kill any product not associated with the license.

The playerbase is a particular kind of dogmatic & persistent that will spend years doing repetitive tasks for minor endorphin hits. You bet your rear end once they gold every bit of gear they want they'll keep accumulating [currency] into infinite.

Good luck trying to balance a new player experience with that of a organic perpetual motion machine.

Any ship that comes in a bundle should be purchased in that bundle. Doing otherwise just fucks you for admiralty which is the only decent path to making the game playable without whaling the gently caress out. The fact that they just lock you out of the bundle forever instead of offering the bundle with a discount for pieces you already own is a big trap for new players.

Lol dive rolling. Over-complicating the race with rolling and jumping is why some people have such a hard time with it. You can literally walk the track and beat the NPC if you cut corners.

To be fair I think it's meant to be played as-is and the dodge rolls that make it trivial were a happy accident they couldn't disable without breaking everything. Then everyone learned to dodge roll their way through and that was that.

Lag or latency or whatever it is manages to bounce me off the track a couple times each winter. If you've got an especially lovely connection that leads to lots of rubber-banding, it can be extremely frustrating. And I can see how people with some physical impairments just wouldn't be able to do it.

It's not hard but it does have an unforgiving fail condition. Flying High has far less pressure, yet I see just as many, if not more people complain about it.

I mean just running on ice without flying off the track. It's not like you spend anytime in the game running on ice before your first winter events. Getting kicked out of the race the first time you go over the often arbitrary lines doesn't help either. Everyone hates it the first year they do it by the end of it it's just simple as hell though.
