Expecting everyone to understand and appreciate the issues of racism through the lens of the American experience is an easy thing to do, but doesn't take into account their different experiences and understanding of racial issues. If you plan on making something for a largely American audience, you'd better be prepared to deal with American problems. I think there is a bad combination of a lack of understanding, fear, inexperience, and apathy that is causing them to hope the situation just goes away on its own. It's not going to, things are just going to get worse, and it is my prediction that article and this uproar is going to embolden the Nazis and the Nazi-adjacent trolls, and things are going to get way worse before they get better.
