Rexie has a new sweater that some in this thread may appreciate. Those robot feeders are great, btw. It opens for authorized cats based on scanning their microchips, so Rexie can't get at the normal food that upsets her stomach, and the other cats can't gobble her super expensive hydrolyzed diet. Technology is wonderful.

I love the subtle shift in the dog's expression; "Ahh, this is niiiii-gently caress . Okay human, I know, I'm getting out... "

I've heard of some hot dogs that need to be boiled before serving, but this is ridiculous!

I'll try to get pictures of them later but we have similar moments with Rayne and Cassandra. He is just so much bigger and longer and just larger than her, she's barely above adolescent kitten size, you wouldn't imagine that they're brother and sister.

bitprophet posted:Something about the combo of the sweater and the expression on her face in that shot is just adorable :3 Yeah something about this sweater just works for her. This is what happens when we watch movies. She really likes popping her head out to watch the screen. I really want to know what she's thinking when she does that; do cats think it's just a different version of the windows where they watch birds and stuff?

Ours do it too! We have one of those Amazon Fire stick tv things for streaming, we'll pull up YouTube on it and set it to a video of birds and/or squirrels. Athos and Porthos will watch that poo poo for hours.

it's weird to me too that some animals have definite reactions to TV and some don't. Like, there's that video of a dog that gets really excited watching some kids movie about a dog (the title escapes me). But I've never had a pet that had any interest in screens... except maybe a lab that could be tricked by doorbells. even video of other cats/dogs, they seem to lack the ability to piece together the image as something meaningful, or maybe it goes the other way, and they have senses fine-tuned enough that they are like "yeah, that sounds like another cat, but something is off enough I know it isn't real.

My cat used to love nature documentaries. It was mainly the sound rather than the picture I think though.

On the other hand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ8c5gTKO6Y "LOOK AT THE loving SIZE OF THIS CAT! AND ITS IN THE HOUSE!" That's not my favourite "dog reacting to TV" video though, it's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JknuPWyTI9U No puzzlement or disappointment at not finding the thing that the guy threw, just back to see if he can get it again. Also the utter disgust on the other dog's face.

My dog used to do that with her teddy bear. She'd just hold it and knead like a kitten until she fell asleep with it in her mouth.

My parents went the rescue route for the first time, in the past they've gone to breeders but it's been about 2 weeks and they're 100% satisfied with the decision. It helps that they absolutely hit the jackpot with this boy. He just loves people and has instantly won over anyone who's come to the house, he seems to really be enjoying his new situation and discovering new things! This is the very first day my parents brought him home. You can tell from this pic that he's a pretty(sweet, goofy) big boy. They got him from a lab rescue organization but we're pretty sure he's got some Great Dane in him. Actually kind of a sad pic as well because I think you can see in my dad's face that he's still mourning their previous dog, Charlie. Augie(short for Augustus) immediately took to the back yard, and he loves sitting on the deck like this and taking stock of his new kingdom. There's been a procession of family coming through to meet the new addition and like I said, they all fall in love with Augie within minutes. The only one who maybe isn't totally enthusiastic about Augie's arrival is the neighbor's dog, who is too old for this poo poo. But he tolerates him for a few minutes at a time before retreating back to his own house.
