They have fine healing numbers. If they find Titania EX stressful to heal, the 5-10% buff AST may or may not get in a few weeks isn't gonna make that fight feel easier to heal because it has an extremely low damage profile in the first place. The damage numbers it puts out are barely higher than Stormblood's primals and it has a lesser healing requirement than almost all of o5s through o12s.

I'm sorry, but your AST player might just not be very good? They are welcome to try another job if they think it will make the current extremes easier to heal, but I don't think you can point at the current state of healers and say that this is an unacceptable place for AST to be on Titania

When AST looked like this in Stormblood

I'm pretty new to this game but I'm not new to math---can you explain why you think the HPS variance here isn't uncceptable? Is there some nuance of raid healing I'm missing here, because it looks like AST is going from 0.47% below the total parsed HPS average , to 8.13% below the total parsed average.

Is that kind of thing typical in this game's healing content, and Stormblood's relatively tight variance (from 0.52% below at worst to 0.78% above at best) is an outlier compared to the +2.19% / -8.13% you're showing for ShB to date?

It's a problem, which is why they said the numbers should be bumped up. Their argument is that the healing is sufficient for current content though, which it is, but you'll notice the lower numbers if you're in a group of less-than-perfect players.

That's correct. I wasn't being sincere. And given that I was under the false impression all this time that the person I was talking to had bad parses, I should be believed when I say I really did not care what the parses were. I just didn't want to engage with somebody who was clearly angling to call me and my husband bad players for saying AST has problems, which is objectively the case.

So for mining and botany right now once you have enough gathering to reveal unspoiled nodes in one hit and enough GP for your full collectable rotation (and a spare Sharp Vision 2) do you just pump up perception as high as you can so that Impulsive Appraisal 2 will proc Discerning Eye more?

Nah, there's a cap on the rarity you get from perception (115 with unbuffed Methodical Appraisal), and the increased chance of triggering Discerning Eye doesn't scale well. Instead you should stack GP, because with level 80 gear and food it's very easy to reach 800 GP. This lets you use Single Mind at the start of your rotation, which effectively just gives you an extra collectible.

While it's not really a thing for healers, fflogs individual percentiles are kind of...awkward right now. Dance partner is a massive buff and it's really skewing things. As an example, this dancer-less party. Check out the individual DPS percentiles, then the raid DPS.

On the one hand, it kind of shows that dance partner evens out when it comes to raid-wide DPS. On the other hand, it really does fly in the face of all of the talk from the live letter about de-emphasizing individual job utility.

(also, trying to use fflogs percentiles to prove a point - especially this early in an expansion - is, and always has been, silly)

Yeah until they start adding the extra damage from trick attack and dance partner as its own thing, like they did with blessing of kings in WoW, we just cant rely on straight up parse info without taking into account party comp.

If you look at party comp things are pretty balanced at the top end, although there is certainly a bias toward BLM, some of the fastest clears use oddball combinations like RDM/SMN

Hard to say if expansion theme even impacts job decisions because GNB and DNC almost feel like they'd belong to another expansion.

Not so much a dialog choice, but in a Dwarf quest, you're expected to Lali-ho, but can do an eastern bow instead, and get a response along the lines of "oh god why is she showing me the top of her head how inappropriate!"

Also my hot take re: AST talk is that anyone who claims AST is unplayable in high level content (ex primals, savage raids) is an idiot. Anyone who says AST is in a good spot right now is also an idiot. How about we just wait for the inevitable balance patch where they raise AST potencies before we keep fighting over it.

Who needs a house out in Hackensack? Is that all you get for your money?
I got one of the Gordias raids in raid roulette the other day and since no one wanted the parts I ended up getting all of them... and that's when I learned the Gordian fending helmet, the one that looks like Exdeath's helmet, works on Hrothgar.

So, now I need to work on a glam that is either compatible with the kind of blue-green prototype model or get some people together for savage so I can get the dyeable version. I never did Alexander savage in HW, but I know some of them were farmed on the regular for Anima weapons later on in the expansion. How is A3S and what would it be like these days?

I dig it.

One thing I've noticed on Titania in particular is people go loving stupid while healing. Like individually healing people after lightning tethers blow them up, or panic healing after Bright Sabbath and and you have like a 45s reprieve before any more damage comes out. Or GCD healing tanks to full after they do a Holmgang or Superbolide on tethers or Fey Light.

They need to do a full revert on AST, just adding 30 potency to their spells will make them better than they are now, but it won't make them as fun or interesting as they were at the end of SB

They gutted that class in nearly every way conceivable, and the only way to redeem it is to put it back as it was before they broke it.

Also the main thing I want right now from AST is some better AoE heal potencies. We've got the Helioses, Horoscope, Collective Unconscious, and Celestial Opposition, but none of them feel great.

It's about time for my once per decade ban for being a consistently terrible poster.
A bit of post-game spoiler stuff I still hate Zenos, but one of the things I hate in SB is he's just generically battle crazed and nihilistic. He literally just exists to be this dude you can't beat, for no good reason, until the story requires you beat him. He has no personality or story beats to him, he's just a man holding a penis he calls a sword, waiting for your sword penis to be inside him. What him killing his father and getting his body back does is make his crazy someone else's problem. Like gently caress you Garleans, this is what you get when you give a sociopath unlimited power. You get a sword penis all up in your business.
