They're getting a Bro pretty soon. Their/my Samsung is really bad about randomly losing WiFi settings. I gave up and had them plug it into mom's PC (which is on 24/7) via USB. Dad's PC and laptop both see it fine, since it's shared. Good 'nuff.

I’ve actually got two days of driving starting tomorrow so I’m sure my health will be in the absolute toilet by the time I start work on the gamblewagon Thursday. I’ll probably injure myself again.

Best I ever got with the 99 Forester was 27 and that was a 5 speed with less than 200k. Coincidentally, I just bought and drove a 2003 Outback H6 3.0 from Mesa, Arizona to Dallas, TX, with wife and teenager in tow. Full car and trip report here, but the short version is: it drove nice, needs struts and at least one bushing, and possibly springs. Engine didn't skip a beat. It's in fantastic shape for a 16 year old car with 180K miles from Arizona. I got 21.9 on my first tank (that I put in. morethanjake kindly left me a full tank to start with,) then 24.4, 23.0, and 17.3 on the last half-tank fill up (I was hammering it going around some fools on state roads out in the New Mexico wilderness.) Again, this is with the 3L H6, and an automatic. I am really happy with this car, particularly considering the Goon deal that I got from morethanjake. Worth it even with flight, hotel, and gas (some of which is offset by considering it a mini-vacation for us.) Mind you, I don't think my daughter will ever allow herself to go on a long car trip again... So, any good Subie/Outback resources out there, or are they all trash and I need to just go join the Flannel thread? Preferred sources for parts? Printer chat: we have a little HP Laserjet that we've had for 5 years or so, and it just keeps on chugging along with the limited prints we really do. I bought a Canon 7-color photo inkjet from Woot or Meh or something last year, because it was like $30, but it's still in the box. I refuse to take it out until I actually need it. My iPhone 6 has finally reached end of life, after surviving being dropped down 5 flights of stairs and dunked in a wash bucket. The screen is now bleeding, the mic port and external speaker are dead, and most troublesome the alarm no longer produces any auditory or vibrations. I missed a 1am emergency call from work and overslept through a meeting last week. I’ve started looking at replacements, but I can’t justify $750+ for another iPhone when I don’t use the Apple ecosystem. I’ve been looking at OnePlus and the Pixel 3a as alternatives. Any others I should check out?

It’s too slippery, too big, and I hate the camera bump on the back. Just make the phone thicker so the camera doesn’t bump out. Put in a bigger battery. What’s so hard to understand about that?

GO: The Hyundai 2.0T is a turd that doesn't perform, doesn't get good gas mileage, and is unreliable. There's a big design flaw where the rod bearings don't get enough oil, causing the engine to seize up. H/K initially claimed that these problems were caused by a manufacturing flaw for early models with this engine. Then H/K quietly extended the warranty for vehicles up to 2018 with this engine. The turbo engines are far more failure-prone; IIRC it's a 4:1 ratio for engine failures between turbo and N/A. Kia specifically will cover this issue for the lifetime of the vehicle, but I don’t think the Sportage is so good to deal with it in the first place.

I built a thing.        It's a little baby desktop amp built from an IcePower 50ASX2SE amp and an APC serial/network card case. It sounds great. I'm shipping it to my buddy in Colorado along with a pair of speakers as a belated birthday present.

When I moved down here last year, they were just right, but better eating has gotten me to where they were slightly strong. But 2 months ago I was almost 190 pounds. I just weighed myself, I'm at 178. I haven't seen a number on the bottom side of 185 in a loooong time. I'm off tonight, so I'm going to try cutting the beta blocker in half and see how my BP reacts. Any others I should check out? Moto G family was suggested; they're solid for what they are, and I've been using a G5 Plus for my work phone for a bit. But if you want a really, really nice phone, the OnePlus 6T or 7 are both drat nice phones. The Pixel 3a is also great, and a lot cheaper. OnePlus and Pixel will get updates LONG before Moto (Pixel usually within a few days of security updates being released, and one of the first to get major releases). The OnePlus 7 is big though. Phablet big. If you've never had a large phone, it takes some getting used to. In comparison, this is the last year of the iPhone 5s support. I've learned to live without a headphone jack but I really want it added back to the flagship phones.
