Robots confuse squirrels.

Incidentally, the quest guide on the Warframe site lists Vor's Prize, Once Awake, The Archwing, Stolen Dreams, The New Strange, Natah, The Second Dream, The War Within, Chains of Harrow and The Sacrifice as the critical quest path. Of those I think only New Strange and Chains aren't hard linked to the Grineer.

There's a lot of existing lore that'd be cool to bring up. Having the Corpus be part of some weird theocracy that worships profit should be something I knew about and didn't learn six months in by watching a random old video about Warframe.

So, the Corpus are just a cult, worshiping money...

FunkyFjord
Jul 18, 2004

Loosely defined profit and growth. Money, advanced tech that lets them be even cooler and lazier, revolutions in managerial efficiency, whack science in general. What if instead of corporate culture culture just was corporate.

The Grineer have a lot more motivations going on in the background, meanwhile the Corpus really are kind of simply oriented around thriving advancements for their upper echelons no matter the cost. Their origins are a lot more interesting imo, but they both kind of end up doing whatever they want because they can, when they can. I really liked seeing the Corpus get fleshed out more with Fortuna but if I had a small complaint it's that it didn't really expand on what we know about the Corpus like learning about the, uh, health problems or hierarchy of the Grineer does. Solaris are super dope though.

Despite loving Fortuna, Grineer and Infested have always been my favorite and it's really nice to see us finally getting more on the Infested. It's been years maybe, I forget exactly when Glast Gambit was released. I really want more on the Infested and the stuff surrounding them in this world mainly because they could be really interesting but there isn't enough there to really explore yet, just hints and implications.

Seriously though I hope Vor is still involved in the new opening. How else are we supposed to leave him cut in half, destroyed, but through it's Janus Key, the Void called to me. It brought me here and here I was reborn. We cannot blame these creatures, they are being led by a false prophet, an impostor who knows not the secrets of the Void. Behold the Tenno, come to scavenge and desecrate this sacred realm. My brothers, did I not tell of this day? Did I not prophesize this moment? Now, I will stop them. Now I am changed, reborn through the energy of the Janus Key. Forever bound to the Void. Let it be known, if the Tenno want true salvation, they will lay down their arms, and wait for the baptism of my Janus key. It is time. I will teach these trespassers the redemptive power of my Janus key. They will learn it's simple truth. The Tenno are lost, and they will resist. But I, Vor, will cleanse this place of their impurity.

How do you learn the secrets of the Infested? By plumbing the depths of the infested Orokin Derelict? By taking on missions from planets that have been infested? Of course not, that would be stupid. Just run index a bunch of times with some weird rules.

Duviri looks rad as hell as a concept but I'm real eager to even get a peak at an infested open world and whatever comes along with it. Imagine the silly power creep of a whole round of two or three infested modular parts per category that can just be plugged in to existing zaws, kitguns, and modular primaries.

E: vv Ya I agree, it could be interesting but as is it's mostly just there. Most of the cool Infested lore we do have has basically nothing to do with it.

Waiting for Godot
The existing factions are great but I'm a huge fan of the Sentients as a real threat. The issue with the Grineer/Corpus/Infested is that they're too familiar at this point, with their floating heads talking big but also getting ritually stomped for parts by any Tenno who wants a piece.

The Sentients still have mystique, and I'm a little worried that they'll lose some of that punch if they're added as a common enemy faction. We stomp the Eidolons, but they're meant to just be cast-off parts of the greater Sentient (and they're still dangerous as gently caress without heavily specialised equipment)

I also love how alien they are, and I hope the art team continue to double down on the fact that the race isn't human/post-human. Give me weird!

I mean, amps, spoiler mode or not, that's usually how "i'm doing this for the affinity/focus"-eso goes anyway. And it's less a question of "toughness", and more who brought the biggest//fastest floor sweeper. Sometimes multiple players do and then end up stepping on each others feet.

Infested were a weapon another tool they made to build things, before the Tenno were created, that the Orokin repurposed and to their surprise eventually ended up turning against them they just let run out of control as a last ditch attempt to make a grey goo barrier against the Sentient incursion.

Are you seeing a pattern?

And hell, let's not forget the Grineer mining-clones-turned-makeshift-soldiers in their first attempt to create a rapidly replenishing army to throw at the problem.

Sort of. The Grineer acquired the Twins originally to keep all their tech working when the Orokin empire collapsed because it was keyed to certain Orokin genes. At some point they decided it was a good gig and went along willingly as leader. This is out of the synthesis scans.
