Not to give this comic too much credit, but this particular strip ain't so bad. The bacon guy's lines could be almost verbatim what I've heard some people say to rile up vegans/vegetarians. "Yeah, meat is murder. Tasty, tasty murder! Mmmm, murder!" I'm sure if I knew any of them now they'd throw in a "LOL, triggered?" on top. I eat meat but if I didn't I imagine I'd get pretty sick of those folks trying to get in my face.

I'm not sure if this is a dig on trans kids or if it's saying that there's something inherently sexual about a kid putting on what is effectively for them an over-the-top costume, but either way it's drawing direct equivalence between queerness and the decades-long rape of countless children and teenagers.

Yeah, like fifteen years ago, in 2004-ish, someone told me that it was child abuse and "sick" that my then-nine-year sister knew what homosexuality is. Our mother is a lesbian. So am I, for that matter. There's this weird sense that all things related to heterosexuality are fine and good and family friendly, and that anything even tangentially related to homosexuality is basically porn.

It's a little personal for me because when I was a kid I always went to this one hobby shop to buy model airplanes and stuff, run by this old man. Then one day I learned that he had died of a heart attack chasing a shoplifter. It didn't involve a gun or anything but it was still part of the old man America mindset that you need to put your (or inadvertently others) life on the line to protect your store's wares. That's what I want to die.
