I remember Lupin vaguely from Adult Swim, IIRC it was one of the least anime-trope-filled animes.

Oh dang, I heard about this the other day but for whatever reason assumed it meant CG cel shading or something. That actually looks really good.

If you haven't seen Castle of Cagliostro, get on it.

It's Miyazaki's first feature film and has some amazing action.

That's because it's an old show from the 70s, and as such doesn't need to follow up on all the new tropes and clichés to attract otaku viewers.

Didn't they make a video game based on that similar in style to Dragon's Lair/Space Ace back in the mid/late 80s? I seem to remember seeing some animated game like that back then.

Gotta say that the weird inflatable plastic aesthetic of all pixar and pixar-influenced animation from the last 20 years looks extemely crap, and I think the supplanting of cel-animation techniques by grotesque CG homogenaeity is a loving shame. An entire generation lost to lovely animation.

Nah.

You want crap? Look at all of the CG anime that's been produced in recent years, it all looks so lifeless and stilted.
It even hurts what's a surprisingly well written show with The Dragon Prince, it looks like cheap JRPG in-engine cutscenes.

in the context of this discussion (technical animation quality) that is a comically loving wrong statement

studios like Madhouse and MAPPA and ufotable are basically singlehandedly responsible for every advance in 2D animation in the past 20 years that isn't "make it faster and cheaper," and Toei's responsible for a lot of that end

You were so scary at night.
I didn't think I'd want to see another Kingsman movie, let a lone a prequel, but the cast is really intriguing. Ralph Fiennes as T.E. Lawrence, Rhys Ifans as Rasputin and Gemma Arterton as Mata Hari.

It's also inspired as hell to cast Stanley Tucci as this movie's Mark Strong.

It also looks like it might be taking a slightly more serious tone than the others, which could be an interesting way to take it. Of course all bets are off when Rasputin is in the mix.

That looks good. I'm not yet even cautiously optimistic, though, based on Millar's involvement. There's no hint of the juvenile nonsense that kept the first film from being top teir, nor the indulgent nonsense that tanked the sequel. But there's plenty of time.

Teenage Fansub

Is Millar involved other than getting a credit for writing the initial comic?

I'm one of the few people here who still likes Kevin Smith (well, him, not his latest movies) and have seem him and Jason Mewes live more than once. This looks like utter dogshit.

And in case you were serious with your question, no, this is Jason Mewes directing for the first time. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is something else.

This is definitely the awkward adolescence of CG but by far the worst thing is how it all looks the same.
