The House passed their NDAA, which includes both SBP-DIC offset and would allow for service member to sue the military for medical malpractice. There was also an amendment to fix concurrent receipt for disability and retired pay but I can't find whether it got added or not because poo poo takes forever to update.

Next step is for the House and Senate to meet to reconcile the two NDAAs and pray that the Senate doesn't insist on stripping out the offset language.

Could you let me know anything you hear about the concurrent receipt for disability and retired pay? My dad is medically retired and his retirement pays his VA disability, he doesn't get both at 40%. Still haven't been able to convince him to make an appointment to get an assessment done for his back issues and every organization I've had him contact has been useless. DAV and Amvets both said sure they'd help, DAV sent the packet to have them become a proxy for him and then he stopped being able to make contact with anyone there, and Amvets didn't even send him out an info packet.

I disagree actually! This has been going on for a very long time and they're just *now* allowing in congresspeople and reporters. For as long as I can remember, they've been denying access to these facilities and yanking the phones of absolutely anyone that even gets close to where the people are.

If they were truly proud, they'd allow in the cameras. Or, they know that as soon as the pictures of Syrian-level camps go around, Trump will disavow all of it.

This is unless things have changed recently.

Man, SIGINT people are usually chill, especially WOs (at least in the Army). This dude though?

Good/chill marine SIGINTers either get out as soon as possible or disappear into joint units or NSA posts. The Radio BNs have had a serious leadership issue for the last 5+ years that was only getting worse when I got out. This guy was at First Rad in Pendleton for the last couple years before he got an NSA post and had a looooot of complaints about how much he sucked as a person, leader, and SIGINTer, but since almost none of the leadership above E-7 or O-3 is a SIGINTer at the SIGINT units (including a BN CO that had been involved in the Haditha Massacre), nothing was done about it.

People like him and his buddies in leadership that have been covering for him his whole career are a huge part of why there’s such a serious issue at the Marine units where nobody with leadership ability or SIGINT ability stick around.

Vriess posted:

None of this is true for Marine WOs. It’s pretty much the same as the Army. WO1, CWO2-5. They have to go through an accelerated OCS and then the entire Basic School that commissioned officers go through after they’re selected.

They’re glory hounds that care more about how they look than about how many people they pull out of the drink, and they suck up supplies/donations that mysteriously never get distributed. That was the feeling around town in Wilmington after Florence landed there, at least (heard from police, coast guard, and medical pros). One county in NC actually banned them from even showing up at all.

CNN has been really annoying me with their coverage of the Epstein poo poo lately. They refused to call him a pedophile or child molester and constantly refer to it as “sex with underaged women.” The word women infers adulthood, which a 13 year old definitely isn’t. Like how’s it hard to do the right thing against something that is pretty much universally considered vile.
