Those Autozone dicks have been guarding Area 51 for years, trying to keep aliens from the truth about the totally legal rush of throwing space batteries into the ocean.

What if the reason UFO's keep dipping in and out of water is because they're throwing out their used car batteries?

Area 51 has nothing to do with aliens. It's where the US military tests advanced stealth aircraft that can elude Autozone AA and drop car batteries into the ocean without getting shot down.

I wanna look up more Inglip comics, but I'm afraid I'm gonna find out that it, like everything else from 4chan, has been taken over by pedophiles, nazis, or nazi pedophiles.

I don't want to go all internet historian here but I feel like image macros became a thing more on tumblr than SA. As far as I can remember they were unfunny for a while then they gestated a bit on tumblr and got pretty funny then SA got on the bandwagon a bit after that.

Tumblr (stylized as tumblr and pronounced "tumbler") is a microblogging and social networking website founded by David Karp in 2007 and owned by Verizon Media.[1][4][5][6][7] The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog. Users can follow other users' blogs. Bloggers can also make their blogs private.[8][9] For bloggers many of the website's features are accessed from a "dashboard" interface. As of May 5, 2019, Tumblr hosts over 465 million blogs.[10] As of January 2016, the website had 555 million monthly visitors.[3] Something Awful (SA) is a comedy website housing a variety of content, including blog entries, forums, feature articles, digitally edited pictures, and humorous media reviews. It was created by Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka in 1999 as a largely personal website, but as it grew, so did its contributors and content. The website has helped to perpetuate various Internet phenomena,[2][3][4] and it has been cited as an influence on Internet culture.[5] In 2018, Gizmodo placed it as 89th on their list of "100 Websites That Shaped the Internet as We Know It".[6] The website has been involved in a number of notable events. These include a conflict with the Spam Prevention Early Warning System, a Hurricane Katrina relief fund being caught in PayPal's red tape,[7] an exhibition boxing match between Kyanka and movie director Uwe Boll, and the creation of the Slender Man.

The SA meme thread started out as an ironic showcase type thing because memes/macros were frowned upon here. We were never a source of original meme content outside the AYB type stuff and Photoshop Phridays.

Pretty sure the whole I can haz cheezburger cat meme originated here, and while people point to memes going back a lot further, it was probably the real progenitor macro. Internet says that was ~2003, so several years before tumblr even existed.
