So in this one preview video of a paralogue battle, Ferdinand is a mounted unit who has a Dismount command. Does this mean he can voluntarily get off his mount on maps and become an infantry unit instead? Would help a lot on those desert maps.

That's been a mechanic in FE games before (specifially FE3 and FE5) so yeah. Doesn't seem like it'll be FE5 where everyone loses their horses indoors though.

yeah mage byleth doesnt really seem like a thing they want you to do, and you get byleth's magic sword pretty early and theres an entire option in the monastery for restoring uses to it so i imagine thief or mercenary are their only real options
