Because you can't use a Target gift card to buy eShop credit their POS system tells you the total can't be used towards that form of card.

Edit: and they didn't have DQB2 in stock. So I took a trip out there for no reason. And as far as I can see there isn't a digital code for it I can get from Target so wtf am I supposed to do with this gift card? I was really hoping for like a prepaid Visa or something for a grocery store.

Buy laundry detergent and fence it. (Or use it.)

Target used to give you a gift card for buying multiple cartons of laundry detergent, so you may end up in a vicious cycle here.

What cases do you like for the Switch? Any decent travel bags that can hold a dock and pro controller too?

I use the Tomtoc ultra slimcase every day, and I love it. I wouldn't say it could survive a bomb going off or anything, but certainly good enough to throw in a backpack.

I had another case before that (I think the standard RDS one you see in all the stores, like this)which was well built, but took up too much space in my backpack.

As for bigger cases that could carry a pro controller and dock, I think they're all pretty interchangeable to be honest. This one from RDS looks like it ticks all the boxes, and I feel comfortable saying is probably well made.

Couldn't you semi-finesse this buy buying something else with the entirety of the gift card, going to return it, but before they're able to "give you store credit" you say you want to use the balance you'd receive to buy an eShop card?

There's also a weird thing about BestBuy's physical stores not letting you use rewards points on PSN credit, but bestbuy.com fulling letting you use the same rewards to buy a card for physical pick-up.

Secret and Trials are pretty much on opposite sides of the SNES generation, Secret was not quite a first gen SNES game but there's a lot of stuff in there that feels like one, and Trials came out a year after the Playstation did so imo they're a world apart.

Trials holds up better, it bends a little more toward action which makes it more fun to play. It's still Mana though. And it has a remake coming that overhauls the gameplay. I put it down at like the 2/3 point when the story screeches to a halt so you can fight eight increasingly difficult bosses in a row, grinding for new gear between each one.

The next Sega Ages game to get the remaster treatment is the arcade version of Columns 2. It'll be out "soon" on the JP eShop, so an international release probably won't be too long after.

To summarise the contents:
  • Flash Columns, the stage-by-stage single player mode from the original game. This has been enhanced with a full stage select, an option to disable skulls, and options to customise the look of the game.
  • VS Columns, the versus mode from the original game. This has been enhanced with an option to flip player 2's side of the screen 180 degrees (so you can lay the switch down flat on a table for face-to-face local multiplayer!) and support for online play.
  • Infinite Columns, a new mode that tweaks Flash Columns into a never-ending game - jewels regularly get added to the bottom row, slowly causing the floor to rise.
  • Columns 1! Yep, they just threw a whole extra game in as a bonus. It's the Genesis version.
  • Achievements for beating each level of Flash Columns, and unlockable profiles for all the little character cameos that can appear in the startup sequence of every Sega Ages game.

Has it been mentioned yet that God drat Lust for Darkness is out on Switch? I played the PC version a couple of months ago and it and Agony (same publisher) have some of the most extreme poo poo I've ever seen in a game. Do you want gratuitous nudity out the arse? Well very early on you come across a huge orgy with all the sucking and loving you might want.
Did you like the bits in the Hellraiser movies where the Cenobites torture people. Well this poo poo has multiple accounts of demonic rape. I am not exaggerating when I say that I at one point came across some Geiger-esque robot demon happily using a human torso as a fleshlight.
Multiple times I had to pause the game because I was laughing so hard at the absurdity of it all.
Other than that it's just a bog standard walking sim with some puzzles and chase sequences that are both very simple. The story isn't especially well written but the mystery of what is going on was intriguing and the devs have crafted a fine Lovecraftish universe.
From watching some youtubes the Switch version has not been toned down noticeably which is completely hosed up. Yeah I knew Nintendo allows anime titties now but this poo poo takes it far and beyond anything else. If you're the type of person who wants their horror movie as gory and gruesome as possible I can not recommend it enough. What the hell, Nintendo?

Go to 12:40 in this video to listen to a nerdlinger comment over the aforementioned orgy. Obviously don't watch it at work.

For me this was absolutely the case. I had waited a long time for it to come overseas. That said, the desire was fueled completely by nostalgia. You have to have a certain perspective to enjoy Trials of Mana if you didn't play it during the halcyon days of emulation. It is a beautiful, well made game. But I didn't realize how much I took for granted until people described playing it for the first time in 2019. For a game played in real time, later on you spend a lot of time stopped waiting around for spells and techs to fire off. And enemies tend to counter spell with spell, often chaining multiple together, which will kill you. Hopefully the remake fixes those problems.

Don't need a holster if you never stop shooting.

I dunno, I still love that game. What's unplayable now is Secret of Mana, where you have to wait an eternity between attacks and spells.

Slightly related, I've been playing the Switch port of TWEWY and I really, really miss the gorgeous pixel art from the original. The vectorized graphics aren't bad per se but they don't have the same charm. The menu organization is also not great.

Like I said, it's just your average walking sim with hosed up poo poo around every corner. I certainly wouldn't call it good but it certainly delivers on it's promise.
I played Agony after Lust since I got them in a bundle and while it ramps up the crazy a bit it also has actual gameplay. Fairly bad gameplay with tons of trial and error and it's worse for it. Lust at least has none of those problems.
