In a video about Russia. Context. I know how bad my team is I don't need insightful and painfully accurate observations by a youtube personality :(

They only fired deans after the lions tour when they had the money.

Also Deans still better than his successors.

Hey France are pretty consistent in the World Cup, one of only 5 nations that have ever been in the World Cup Final after all.

I#m the opposite really, Union is getting more and more competitive at every level, Pro14, Top14, English Prem, Internationals etc are all more fun to watch.

Yes, from what I've seen of the Pro14 and English prem (haven't seen any top 14) as well as Champion's Cup there has been some really excellent rugby played.

Yep. Deans' tenure has looked better than his successors, at 58.1%, compared to Michael Cheika, who has won 48% of his tests. More damningly, in his tenure to date, Cheika has not been able to get a win percentage in each year in charge other than 2015, where they were drawn against an imploding England team and got lucky against Scotland in the quarters.

That said, just firing Cheika probably won't do anything, because there's the inevitable question - who do you hire? And considering the way Deans was treated, where it seemed like the ARU were just fishing for reasons to fire him starting the day after his appointment, I can't imagine many non-Aussie coaches would want anything to do with the team.

Honestly, when you've got Pacific Island teams and long-term minnow sides like Japan loving up France on their patch, it's usually a good indicator of how competitive the game is.

Yeah kinda hopeful for Fiji in this Pacific Cup, they've got some real 'structural' players in there now. Fiji have always been weak in the forwards and in set plays but I think Peceli Yato and Viliame Mata give some much need straight running and breakdown ability to the Fijians. Kunatani is more of a 7's specialist. Tevita Ratuva is really new and kinda untested but hopefully with him paired up with Nakarawa will help him there.

It never hurts when your props can do this
