My buddy just randomly texted me "What Bob Dylan album should I start with?" after years of disinterest in him.

I told him Blonde on Blonde or Bringing It All Back Home, but I just feel like there's no right answer with Dylan's overwhelming catalog.

Or highway 61 or freewheelin but that’s pretty much the right answer.

Or maybe desire if they are going into it thinking they don’t like Dylan.

Sturgill isn’t doing what I’d do if I had the money and talent to do it. He is making his own music, sans boundaries, and he is making his own 80s/90s Saturday morning cartoon but for himself now. gently caress yes. I’m in.

They had have a recorded a version of The Chain by Feetwood Mac with Isbell playing guitar.

Since they all have busy careers, don't expect a tour but they may show up at festivals or special gigs.

I like Crowded Table better than the first single. I don't know though, I like all of them, but the vocals are just too crowded for me. Each of them could easily carry these songs solo, but when they're all singing the vocals feel generic.

They just gave their first full live performance at Newport Folk yesterday and sounded amazing. Most of their songs aren't really my style but the talent is undeniable.

The whole finale show leading up to Dolly was incredible too. First I’ve ever heard of Yola but I instantly became a fan after hearing her do a verse from The Highwomen. We’ve been going to Newport for the last 7 years and that was by far the best closing night we’ve seen. Everybody lost their poo poo when Brandi introduced Dolly to the stage.

Aw nuts! Orville Peck canceled his September show in my city.

At least we're seeing Jenny Lewis for the fifth time in September, and then Kacey Musgraves.

Went to see Tedeschi Trucks Band at Red Rocks on Saturday. Shovels & Rope was one of the openers. Cary Ann Hearst is a really good performer. Her husband is ok, but she doesn't need him. There was a point in the show where she was playing the organ, drums, and harmonica at the same time.

I can't even tie my shoes without farting and falling over. She's incredible.

Man dang ol John Prine had to cancel his Red Rocks show with I'm With Her last Sunday and I'm still bummed about it. They rescheduled for September, but it's on a Wednesday. He's having open heart surgery because he's high risk for a stroke. Kind of a reminder that some legends are still alive and getting a little frail, so go see them while they're still doing what they love.

Anyhow, Murder By Death and Wovenhand tomorrow night :woop:
