The Iron Rose posted:I'm advanced computer skills - MS Office But only Word Excel and PowerPoint? You just know a shop like this has some 1GB Access database sitting out on 1.5 GB USB drive which dangles by it's frayed, USB 1.0 cable. Only Phyllis in HR uses it and all she does it fill out the forums in Access, prints them, and files them away in a 3 ring binder. Sorry, flashbacks talking.

That posting is nearly as bad as the old Penny Arcade one. The one that insisted on no work-life balance for a loving pittance.

You aren't going to find a good candidate who knows routing protocols and security but is also happy to pull cable and gently caress with printers. If you get someone it will be because they are desperate and will leave asap.

Maybe I'm missing something with this ad because I didnt think it was super bad. Most job ads I've seen usually include some throw away line like that in my experience. Like even if you're applying for a server support position somewhere they include "responsibilities include assisting helpdesk" or something like that. I always try and suss out how much of that is involved in the day to day job during the interview portion. It doesnt help that job title inflation is a constant thing, one places network support specialist is an actual networking guy while another company down the street has their network support doing helpdesk.

You didn't miss anything, the ad is fine, we just like to get offended. No one here is going to be happy until they see an add requiring skills in only one technology, which specifically states 30 hours/wk maximum.

Even when you lose job stability and are expected to work long hours without overtime, and are lucky to take 1 week PTO a year. I can do team lead and mentoring type stuff but pure management is cancer to me and I hate interfacing with C-levels and all of the bullshit political stuff. Would much rather play with my toys and make things work.

They understand that their request is unreasonable, and are so employee focused that they simply won't allow you to lowball yourself, so they refuse to pay you $50,000, because the real pay is significantly higher than that. I think we all owe Rogue an apology.

WAF had access to an IAM role that then allowed access to the s3 bucket. Somehow they found a way to use the WAF to give access? That last bit is unclear. Edit: read the fbi indictment. Somehow she was able to get iam credentials from the WAF, which in turn could list buckets and copy from them. Basically a software bug and overexposed permissions that were granted as a result of a bug in a security tool. Also notable was that SSNs and some other parts of the breach were tokenized. What wasn’t were things likes names and addresses. Also notable was that a file share she had a names corresponding to things like Ford and an EU bank. freeasinbeer fucked around with this message at 02:21 on Jul 31, 2019 |

I am doing a security audit for the new company to see what kind of glaring holes are in the cloud infrastructure I'm responsible for and it's pretty bad for a cybersecurity company. I've had to close 4 backdoors to 10 instances out of thousands they use company wide. Cant imagine what the others look like

There is a small slack group, irc, and a goon discord. Last I checked the nondev nongamer channels on the discord were pretty quiet. But the dev ones were fairly active.

I do wish Slack allowed multiple instances of the application. I know I can always open a copy in a browser, but I'm a thick client kind of guy. Having one window for work, and another to cycle through the other servers I've found myself on, would be nice.
