Actually, someone could probably do an essay or commentary about how to the people toiling below these beings with incredible powers, they see only symbols of their supposed virtue. But as soon as you're able to take a birds-eye view, to be on their level, suddenly the corruption and repression of the common person becomes evident

It feels like Ennis or Miller has already kind of done this? Isn't that what a surface level read of The Boys is?

I would say both Planetary and The Boys would count. Hell, also Watchmen. :D

That is the Four Freedoms Plaza, which is where they were headquartered for most of the stories when I was growing up. The name actually comes from an FDR speech where he urged the US to enter the war and beat the Nazis!

Thanks to the sliding time scale, Tony was just Teen Tony when the housing market collapsed.

I think they're saying that since Tony Stark's character seems to be perpetually in his early 30s, in 2019 he would have experienced the GFC in his late teens or early 20s.

Of course, as far as I'm concerned Tony being perpetually in his early 30s just means that even in 2019 when he is in his early 30s, in 2008 he was also in his early 30s and in 2001 he was in his early 30s and in 1990 he was in his early 30s and in 1984 he was in his early 30s etc, etc.

There's actually a page in today's issue where he's talking to a banker before the actual crash, and tries to point out all the flaws in the brilliant plan to the banker without success. Tony didn't actually benefit.

It’s weird, but solely looking at the MCU portrayal, I’m now realizing it feels like 20 years took place, not just in terms of how many drat movies were crammed into 2008-2019, but also that several of the actors (RDJ and Mark Ruffalo particularly) feel to me like they aged a LOT in that time, I guess the few grey hairs they were sprouting in Endgame really hit me hard?
